Upgrading Non-Steam => Steam

So I recently got the Non-Steam 21 day trial for Eve, however I plan on buying the Subscvription via steam, I am wondering if I can still keep my account on the Steam version. As in I get the steam subscription and sign in to my Eve account that I am using now, so 30 days will be added.

If this doesn't make any sense right now then let me put it this way: I have a non-steam Trial account, can I upgrade that account with a Steam subscription from the Steam store.

Thanks for helping: Caesar

To my knowledge, the "Steam Client" is the standard Eve client, just downloaded via steam, and the only place where things "break" is when you try doing something where "use of a CD key from [vendors] or a GTC doesn't count" -- generally some of the "power of two" promotions work like this.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

No. You cannot (currently) upgrade from a non-Steam trial to a Steam subscription. Your best bet is to pay/Plex your current non-Steam account to keep your trial skills.

Your other option is to get the 14-Day trial on Steam (as a Demo) and then subscribe via Steam. Unfortunately you will start all over with a new character.

This is because non-Steam SSOs (Single Sign-Ons) and Steam SSOs use different accounts.

Yes, you can log into your non-Steam alt via the Steam client, but you cannot log onto you Steam alt via the non-Steam process.

Hope this clears that up.

CCP has made noises in the past about merging accounts. So don't be surprised if something involving merging CCP SSO with other authentication comes into the mix. That is to say, you authenticate using Steam, PSN, Xbox Live, Origin, etc, and all those authenticated sign-ons are linked to your active EVE Online account.

At least, that is my understanding of a half-dozen words uttered by some CCP person in a forum thread I read.

Actually, a non-steam account can't be upgraded through steam as the credentials aren't shared. It is possible to add a non-steam game to the library on steam, but then you have to log onto the game with your credentials, whereas a steam purchased EVE account has Steam credentials which CCP doesn't know.

Purchasing through steam will actually create a new account with no characters.

Also worth noting, trial accounts can't be created through steam anymore, you can only sign-up for EVE with a paid subscription right from the start, that's why they often come packaged with Cerebral Accelerators, since they're subscribed from the start and don't get to have a 14 or 21 days trial prior to the first month of subscription.
