Game Launcher Question?

If I close the launcher in the middle of an update, say at 970/1600 megabytes downloaded, will the progress still be there the next time I launch the updater or will I have to re-download all 1600 megabytes of files again? I'm going out with my family and I don't know if this update would finish in time. Thanks!
