No More Station Games

When you dock up your ship is being "towed" into the station. What station in their right mind is going to hook their equipment to you and tow you in while you're being shot at?

Ok so over exploitative if just changed to no docking while under combat, so how about the following:

Prevent docking during combat, period. This feature would stop the undock/dock games that go on in wardecs while the enemy (usually the one who initiated the war in high sec at least) un-docks, tests their fit against you, then docks back up to change their fit and undock again. Typically the aggressive players in high sec are not good at pvp they are just good at docking games. Remove this function from the game as a pvp tactic.

Two options and I think implementing both would be solid:

A: Once a ship undocks from a station and aggresses, it's aggression timer (30 second docking timers) should remain 30 seconds as long as it is engaged. No more DE-aggression for dock up.

Example: Ship A undocks and fires on ship B. Ship B returns fire. Ship A turns off aggressive mods in an attempt to dock back up. Dock timer 30...29...28...27...26... Missiles from ship B hits ship A and resets the dock timer for ship A to 30 seconds.

NOTE: Any active aggression on this ship should keep it from docking up once it has engaged. A target painter active on it, a warp disruptor, anything aggressive should restart the timer.

NOTE 2: This would not change the current tactic of undocking, being shot at, and docking back up. This would also not change the target invulnerability tactic and the insta-warp abilities with proper bookmarks and planning. You would not be any more trapped than you are right now. It would simply remove docking games from pvp. They are a stupid concept in a game like this anyways. (Yes there is bumping which is also dumb. That should cause ship/shield damage.)

B: Add a component to the warp scrambler (not disruptor) that would prevent docking and jumping of any kind. Already it stops the ability to cyno jump caps. This added feature would mean once you are scrammed even if you do not aggress, you can not dock and you can not jump through a gate. You are committed so fight it out.

Something has to change this undocking and docking to refit because you are losing garbage. Lets see some more ships explode.

Again, if you undock your orca and get shot at and not scrammed you would still be able to dock back up. If you get scrammed, well you should have planned ahead before flying your orca during a wardec.

And this, from a care bear.

(+1 form me to every idea which tries to kill station games by letting stations behave more like stations and less like gates. bring fights to open space)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Aggression is horribly buggy and I think that the changes you listed in A are more likely to result in loads of horrible screwed up bugs than any real positive change. Warp scramblers are so common that B seems a bit oppressive.

A warp disruption field generator script with half range that prevents docking and jumping is something I could get behind.

Station games aren't inherently a bad thing and people who make good use of aggression timers and docking shouldn't be punished just because you don't like what they are doing, but when you have an opponent who insists on constantly docking and undocking there really should be some reasonable course of action you can take, particularly on those caldari stations with huge docking ranges.

in general docking games work fine, if you don't like docking after agression don't play the docking game. You are not really forced to do that.

however there's couple thing which are dumb like:

a) docking ship in maintenance array
b) neutral RR (only problem in hi sec, and then you can always get out of hi sec if it bothers you even if it's pretty ********)

This was an interesting statement in passing. so if you cause damage by bumping do you get a timer? and what does this do to Jita and the clot of ship coming out of stations there? would this become a new type of passive suicide ganking? and why is that guys paper weight shuttle that improbably bumps my frieghter out of alignment now doing damage to my massive ship?

Lol... replied to the wrong topic.

But since I'm here. I like station games.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

there are always 2 parties involved in docking games. You are one of them.

If you dont like station games, DONT PLAY THEM! Problem fixed.

Another idea is to give station guns a "zero-tolerance" policy for aggression near the station and a nice Jovian upgrade. You fire within range of the station guns? >pop<

I'd giggle.

Six months in the hole... it changes a man.

These questions I feel were not thought through.

The damage done should be relevant to mass and speed. In other words that shuttled would probably damn near explode depending on velocity and angle of inpact. While your freighter hardly got a scratch in the shields. That's like a nat hitting a semi-truck windshield for crying out loud.

Further, currently during undock if you don't touch anything and you just drift you fly right straight through other people. The undocking situation would not need to change..

Finally The only on topic question: so if you cause damage by bumping do you get a timer?

I would say no, it would have to be an active offensive module. Just like now. Bumping is a tactic in game at the moment, but it does not cause aggression. But again since this thread is more about changing station games than discussing the idea of a change or ramifications of a change to bumping, you are way off topic.

LOL that would indeed fix the problem wouldn't it? LOL but I think it would have an adverse affect on combat. Everything would turn into gate fights or "meet me at planet x" I don't think that's a good solution.

I can see a group getting together and trying to take down a Charon with a swarm of shuttles. Enter the new blob tactic. Shuttle Blobbing

That would be entertaining.
