Interfacing and configuring Alienware Aurora tower lights with Eve's AlienFX settings

I have an Alienware Aurora-R4 that I use (amongst other things) to play Eve. Eve has the graphic option to enable AlienFX (which, if I understand that correctly, means the game can actively, 3rd party access, my pc). Vunderbar! Except . . .

I can find no information anywhere on what, precisely, that interaction is intended to do, nor how to configure it.

Is this at all possible?

I do not recall all the specifics, but essentially EVE will play back some effects via AlienFX on certain events. For example when your shields / armour / hull drop below the warning threshold, or when your autopilot arrived at its destination, or when you have enough cap for jumping (assuming your ship has a warp drive). However, to my knowledge there is no way for you to configure these effects.

Thank you CCP Aporia, for your reply. I have to admit to a wee bit of "Eh?" here, however.

  1. "I do not recall all the specifics . . ." That's pretty reasonable; I never do expect everyone to know and/or remember everything about a game, especially as one as large as this one.

  2. " . . . essentially EVE will play back some effects via AlienFX on certain events" I rather gathered that, yes. Please forgive my skepticism, but I find it hard to believe that no one, anywhere, has a list of the specifics regarding what AlienFX does [some effects], and upon which certain events they occur.

I would think that, if the developers thought including AlienFX as a nod to all of us who do run Alienware computers, they would have, at least, put a bit more thought and effort into it.

Again, thank you for your reply

Can you be a bit more precise on how your definition of "more thought and effort" would look like? :-) Do you think that customizable LED effects for certain in-game events would be useful?

Can you make eve support the Logitech keyboard series with display? That would be cool!
(Or expose some 3rd party thing so the eve enthusiasts can make it.)

In just got a R4 as well and enabled alien FX support. It makes all your lights blink when alarms go off. I.E. when shield alarm goes off all lights blink and turn yellow, when armor alarm sounds all lights blink and turn red.

Sadly it rarely works. on rare occasions I cheer cause I think its an awesome feature, but the majority of the time it just turns all your lights blue and does nothing else.

This feature is broke as **** and unreliable.
