Yes, API documentation is in a pretty sorry state. eve-id was up earlier this week, really hoping it's just temporary downtime as that's the best of the bunch.

As you say, the link to the "official" documentation in the sticky on this forum is a dead link, goes to a 404.

The most "official" documentation is this:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Category:API

... which is probably where that sticky link is supposed to go to but was broken by CCP's website reorganisation.

But it's not very usable, is out of date, and lacks the many useful real-world usage notes that eve-id has.

You can get to cached versions of eve-id in various ways, one is:

http://web.archive.org/web/20130518035521/http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Page_Index

Google have the site cached too:

sadly i haven't seen exi around in ages, but i doubt he would just kill it. so it is most likely only temporary.

both of 'em don't have the complete versions, but they might have a complete cached one if put together.

eve-id seems to be not reachable... again.

but during the time it was reachable i actually mirrored most of the api reference (minus discussions),
so for now you can use http://3rdpartyeve.net/evapi/.

this does not include discussions,
and can't be edited atm
