Wouldn't it be moot since they have savings? We would save money if we just do what Texas does and only convene a few times a year. Congress used to be a volunteer job, not a full job occupations.

How about making or promoting a petition that is viable, say a COLA overhaul that fails even worse than usual when we're in a deep recession but prices for necessities rise?
Texas has a better chance of seceding and I have a better chance of winning the lottery than this nonsense.

To be perfectly fair we had an authoritarian government before, it's weight has simply been shifted due to fiat currency inflation. The spying stuff, unnecessary wars, massive welfare spending, state agents murdering civilians and reporters, they're old hat. We've been through this for centuries and though for a brief period in western Europe and America the corruption was much smaller, relative to the strength of their economies, it was still there.

I've been on Social Security Disability. It's a meager living, but I had help from my family, and my congregation. They did more to help than the government could or should do. After painful physical therapy, I no longer walk with a cane or require heavy pain medication. Disability helped arrest my fall, but it was a temporary band-aid, sandbags against the storm surge. That's all it can ever truly be.

The government doesn't care to help you end your dependency. It isn't in the interests of those who govern to do so.
