I trained thermodynamics 5 and my modules are burning out faster than they did originally?

Before i trained it to 5 i counted 15-17 microwarpdrive cycles now its just 13-15... and now it only just burns out my shield extenders first instead of the micro, but the overloaded module burns out quicker... i have yet to try interceptors with a 1mn which sustains 3 cycles worth of damage before they destroy.
