1 Gbit symetric internet connection for happy Austin dwellers :)

"Google’s Fiber takeover plan expands , will kill cable and carriers"

hopefully all big ,fatt carriers will dissapear or start to compete.

and last but not least, sharing is caring:

"every Google Fiber home will have a public wifi component. In order to get Google Fiber, you’re going to have to agree to put a router in that lets anyone use a portion of your bandwidth."

I quit EVE for 2.5 years because of Comcast. I had so many disconnects the game was unplayable. My corp mates worked for an ISP in the UK and ping plotted my signal for me. Comcast was using "traffic shaping," i.e. choking people's bandwidth during peak times to distribute load. This the DCs. And they had a monopoly on the area I lived in-- no option to switch to a competitor service.

Then I moved to another town where I could get FIOS. No bandwidth problems and back in action in EVE.
