Faction war soldiers life after the high command shake up

I don’t rp but this is sort of an attempt at it in order to envision how I think fw should be. It’s the story my character would be able to tell about himself if ccp got fw right.

High command = ccp fw mechanics. My fat cat high sec traders = my alts. Earning navy equipment = lp store stuff. The empress = the new more enlightened ccp. Carrying out personal vendettas for the brass = missions.

I’m with the 22nd myridian defensive command. I’m in the amarr militia. The militia as a whole has broken the minmatar amarr front into 10 zones. Most corps are assigned to one defensive zone and one offensive zone. However this is not set in stone and can be fairly fluid. Some also have clones in Caldari Gallente front for when the squids need help.

My corp is assigned the “**** and siph” pipline covering tzvi, siflar and the 2 systems in that cluster up to arzad and ezzara. Our offensive area is Vard, lantorn and sisede and we share responsibility of dal and hoff with the another set of corps.

In my defensive zone I have 30 frigates, 20 cruisers 10 bcs and 8 battleships, all fully fit and ready to go. I have half that number in my offensive zone. My supplies are actually running low.

Since the changes in high command 2 months ago the fighting has been intense. I have lost 170 frigates (many of which are high tech and navy issue) 70 cruisers 50 battlecruisers and 20 battleships. However I helped kill over 400 enemy frigates 180 enemy cruisers 140 battle cruisers and 70 battleships. I helped capture over 500 complexes for the amarr.

Thanks to the change where the high command actually compensates people who help in the war effort instead of just carrying out personal vendettas of the brass I have earned allot of navy equipment. By capturing the complexes themselves I earned enough Navy equipment to pay for over 80% of my losses. The insurance (when you fight for the militia you know your insurance money won’t go to waste) and the loot should more than make up for the difference. (even if it is minmatar crap loot)

That is, it will make up the difference when I get around to selling that stuff. I have been putting it off. It’s just that every minute there is a new complex to take or defend. 95% of my waking hours are spent fighting for these complexes.

What am I supposed to do? Tell my commander “yeah I know we are under attack and you need me, but I’m too busy carting all my loot into high sec in my big fat luxury transport ship, so you will have to wait?” Actually I can’t even fly those fancy transport ships.

And anyway I would probably never be able to live down being seen in one. You know the joke: What do transport ships and fat girls have in common? They are both fun to ride until a friend sees you on one.

What I need to do is contact one of my fat cat high sec marketer friends to haul this stuff out and get it sold. They have no shame riding those big civilian transport ships. Plus most of the loot is in those 2 zones instead of scattered thought the 4 regions of our front like it used to be. But I know they are keeping a bigger cut than they claim. I just know it.

One of my favorite marketers tells me she can’t sell my amarr navy armor plates in even in jita! She says they are worse than plain tungsten plates. I don’t believe it. But she tells me I can take them back anytime if I have a use for them – and frankly I don’t. But that’s beside the point. She is just bitter over our break up.

Yeah most of the women I loved died because they weren’t immortal. The rest decided they didn’t want to fight in the militia and left for distant regions of space. They left me and the glorious amarr for isk. Not to say there aren’t women in the militia. About 40% are women. But reading some of what they write, they often seem like men. And I’ll be damned if 95% of their voices don’t sound like a man’s voice when I hear them on coms! It creeps me out. High command claims that if we get more fancy clothes more women – the kind with feminine voices - will join the war. I think that’s BS.

Well what are “the changes” that happened 2 months ago? Well basically the Empress found out that high command was idiotic and cleared them out. Plexes were being attacked and no one was even being notified! When we needed to clear out spies from our own plex we would ask were we need to go and high command said they lost the maps. So we would have to wander around scanning our own complexes out again!

And the militia was terrible. I will never forget my first day on duty. I went into a major complex and saw an enemy frigate there. We had several battleships on the field but I could tell they weren’t doing any damage. Anyway since I could tell he had an afterburner shield and shield booster I knew he didn’t have any scramblers. So I was screaming at our battleship pilots “You’re in structure, warp out! He doesn’t even have a point on his ship warp out! Warp out! Warp out!” But they just sat there until they were each blown up one after another. I was stunned.

Why couldn’t they kill a single frigate and why did they let all those ships go to waste? Well I came to find out some of those battleships only had 1 or 2 guns and a cap battery fit on them! And on average over 80% of the slots on their ships weren’t even filled! What were these guys thinking?? And why they wasted those ships instead of warping out when they were hitting structure I still will never know.

Anyway the empress found out the high command was not informing people when complexes were being attacked. She also found out pilots were not rewarded for holding key complexes and instead only rewarding people for running personal revenge missions. And then she found out they were not disciplining soldiers for failing to fit their ships or warp out if they were about to blow up and wasting all that material.

She was livid and told everyone that if they ever showed up in a ship with more than half of their armaments not even fit they would be receive a dishonorable discharge. Well the next day these drooling zombies still showed up with their ships not even fit! And they were all dismissed from the militia!

They didn’t like that. Some ended up in high sec as incompetent security guards but most defected to the blood raiders. I actually see most of them in the local systems hanging out in asteroid belts. They attack me every chance they get but they still don’t fully fit their ships and they still don’t even try to warp out when they are going down. I’m just glad they aren’t fighting next to me anymore.

The funny thing is the minmatar had allot of the same problems. They did the same dumb things we did. They also got rid of the mindless zombies in ships not even half fit. And they also started telling their best pilots when complexes were being attacked. They claim they took this action first, we know how they lie.

So the fighting is much more intense now. It used to be one amarr attacker could take on 30 minmatar. Now the odds are about even. I have to admit they are coming with their ships fully fit now and they will warp out if you can’t hold them. Lots of guys who used to defend complexes couldn’t take this new form of combat. So they left for high sec or out to “never never land” where they sit in their huge capital ships protecting their moon goo.

Now that the militia has changed and high command aren’t such idiots I think I will stick around. I finally think the amarr are taking advantage of the fact that they have immortal pilots willing and able to fight in their war.
