[ARB-I] Matari Collaboration Project

Welcome to The Arboria Institute

It is my pleasure to announce that in the coming weeks we will be working to provide health care and support to those suffering in the frontlines of the Minmatar/Amarr war. I also truly hope that I can, on a personal level, develop good relations with the Minmatar.

Recently we received care of a young Sebiestor Pilot who would, at this time, like to remain anonymous, the moment I set eyes on this pilot I saw the pain and suffering of a whole people etched there and knew that with the Sisters to guide me I would have to help. So I would like to extend a warm hand to all Matari who might need shelter or aid.

I would also like to confirm for any doubters, that this is not some kind of Missionary and that you do not have to join anything to be part of this. We are Doctors without Borders. Plain and simple. If anyone would like to donate to this effort we are looking to provide the following to the Minmatar cause:

  • Frozen Food
  • Wheat (preferably Non-Amarrian varieties)
  • Antibiotics and other medical supplies

Monetary donations are also welcomed, however we are quite well funded and if we need ISK then I will announce it here.

Stay tuned for developments and future plans.

Thank you for your time and as always, our doors are open.

Honor is earned.

I hope this endeavor meets with much success. I will see what I can procure to donate.

Update

I feel an apology is necessary for omitting the following information:

Concerning our first pilot to seek refuge in our institute, it is our intention that ARB-I is used by refugees as a place to essentially regain strength and/or heal and when they feel ready to they may decide to leave and reconnect with their tribe or clan.

If however they are so inclined they may stay on and join ARB-I in it's endeavor to provide aid to those in need they are more than welcome. Again I would re-iterate that this is entirely the pilot or individuals decision.

It gives me great pleasure to say that the young pilot has already come to me to say that they would like to return to the Sebiestor home-worlds when they feel ready.

These people tend to want the wrong things, Ms Elleren. You would do them a better service by encouraging them to abandon the Republic and seek out a new life, a righteous life, within the Empire.

I have long since abandoned the empire, I have found "a righteous life" following the Sisters, but thank you for your concern.

And if they desire to, once they have recovered from the depredations of the war, return to Amarrian civilization? Maybe seeking a place less prone to racist attacks by closed-minded Matari extremists? How do you intend to honor their choice then? Or will you simply conclude that they are deluded, and force your decisions onto them? "You can have any color you want, as long as that color is rust red"?

I have a feeling you may have the wrong end of the stick. We will not be forcing any decisions onto anyone.

You stated that they were "free to chose", then listed only one real choice. The wording showed a strong bias against the other choice that the residents you suggest you are serving might wish to make. The press gangs of the more harsh of Holders are at least more honest about the choices they offer, even if in the end they offer precisely the same amount of variety.

You really do have the wrong end of the stick, I do not work for the empire, I am not a holder. I work under the guidance of the Servant Sisters of EVE.

I do not think Matari families would suddenly decide that they would prefer to live in the Empire, so of course I assume they would return to their tribe or clans.

My ancestors were slaves as well, and through that became educated and civilized members of a great empire, with opportunities none of our ancestors could have imagined. Some of our ancestors' faiths were so strong as to achieve salvation and freedom in a single generation. Others took longer. The Matari are both intelligent and strong of will. I would be very surprised to find that such a diverse people were somehow completely and utterly singleminded in their rejection of the truths of God which they have been taught, through which each Matar in the Empire has been offered their spiritual and corporeal freedoms. Baffled that they all, every single one, would adopt a religion strange to many of them for reason that "Your great, great grandfather worshipped like this.. we think.. or something like it.. minus the extra propaganda we have added recently.."

And you'd be assuming wrong, of course. My father was an engineer from a long line of freed Brutor, just one of billions of Matari who are loyal citizens of the Empire.

And if you were really working for the Sisters of EvE then you'd be providing aid to all refugees, not just the Matari ones. Your bias is so thick you could spread it on a cracker. Non-Ammarian wheat? Really? What kind of sane person would, when starving, refuse to eat bread from Amarrian wheat? Then again, from what I've seen, there is no shortage of fanatics crazy enough to do exactly that. And you know what? They can starve to death for all I care. New Eden is better off without these hate-pods walking around in human skin.

The Sisters of Eve don't take sides, but you clearly have. So I find it a little hard to believe that you have any real humanitarian goals. So what are these supplies really for, then? Feeding more shock troops & suicide bombers?

From what I've seen of refugees - the real ones - they want nothing more than to get away from the fighting. People who've watched their homes, their worlds, destroyed by warfare either turn into terrorists or pacifists. Real refugees rarely care that other refugee sitting next to them on the transport is a kinsman or "the enemy" - all those ideas lose all meaning when both are running from the horrors of war.

A little something from the Archieves:

For the men of Wu and the men of Yueh are enemies yet if they are crossing a river in the same boat and are caught by a storm, they will come to each other's assistance just as the left hand helps the right.

Elleren, please open a private channel when you find a window of available time to discuss what SYNE's research projects can provide your initiative with. In the meantime, good luck with it.

Everyone takes sides, period. It may be just an almost imperceptible leaning to one side or another, or a loud and proud statement of principle and belonging. In the end it doesn't matter in this particular case as long as the supplies and ISK funneled into this endeavor can be confirmed to go where it is claimed by audit.

Unless I see reports of actual abduction and forcing of refugees to join one side or the other, as has been the case with the Empire and other slaver factions, this seems perfectly innocent to me.

You can start by sourcing your information? Backing it up with something reliable? I guess that might be a little problematic.
