[Proposal] Corporate Permissions

Currently the corporation permissions system is very very tedious PITA, it's not user friendly in any way shape or form.

I think it would be great for CCP to put a little effort into re-working this current system, as it would honestly reduce a lot tedious corporation member management, also it could help reduce corp/alliance thefts (I know some of you play for this reason alone Roll ). But in all fairness it needs a major overhaul, this is the stone age system of EVE Online. Ugh

You should be able to for example give Kronarn access POS in Jita solar system > Planet I Moon I > to corp hangers 1, 2, 4 & 6 and allow access to same hangers 1, 2, 4 & 6 in Medium Ship main array, but no access to any other POS's in said system.

Of course similar permissions to corp hangers in systems etc, it would allow corps to assign member roles to do different corp tasks which would require access to corp hangers and such without giving too much access or too little.

Personally I think even a slight overhaul would be better than what EVE currently has.

This is a known issue, and has been brought up dozens of times before.

That I knew from looking on the old forums over time but it would be nice for CCP to actually put a little effort into fixing old broken parts of EVE rather than focusing solely on new additions.

Are you saying bringing it up until they fix it is a bad idea and that we should just forget about it till they remember?

CCP now talk about communication in the latest blog post, I don't think we are all looking for an immediate fix but if they started becoming more involved in the forums when such questions and suggestions are proposed it would certainly put some frustration to rest.

Even an outline of what is penciled in as far as proposed changes and such to old persistent bugs, not new additions. Fixing the very old (still broken) issues would be the best place to begin in planning all future development in my opinion.

Can you imagine for example Google leaving browser issues unfixed and further expanding and developing the Chrome browser? End users eventually move on to not so much better, but more reliable alternative software, CCP need to prioritize weaknesses in the current software and then build on it, that's what good development is all about, a solid foundation.

Agreed. If pilots could have their "base" set to individual POSs in the Edit Member screen it would allow more freedom in granting roles.

It needs a revamp for sure, but it is a big task. I would not expectto see CCP adress it any time soon. But they better start working on it soon. Dust and all the stuff they keep adding has far out paced the palrty 16 bits currently being used.

Whatever is designed needs to be open ended, allow corps/alliances to create groups, assign roles and permissions to the groups, apply group permissions to cans, POS structures, POS towers, hangars, wallets, etc. Let the players choose how much or little granularity they want instead of the limitations of the current system.

It would be nice to see a more user-friendly role administration process, however, I think this is pretty low on the priorities list.

Once some of the more horrendous bugs, glitches, and issues or resolved, then and only then should this issue be visited. But, with that said, I think it should allow for the CEO/Director of a corp to be able to assign things as they please, and not just have the standard "cookie cutter" approach that is typically taken. Like allowing for removal of specific item-types from a specific hangar (say... ammo) would be useful, allowing for Corp members to utlize corp-manufactured ammunition during a war dec, or for missioning or hunting ops, or mining crystals for mining ops. Things of that nature. But still at the same time preventing them from accessing anything too big or shiny.

Also another annoying feature is the vote to "lock down" items. Usually BPO's in my case. As a CEO you should be able to lock down items without a vote, or at least have an option to lock down with a password.

It should allow the option to lock/unlock items like you can with a container and such. And also logs should be available for all container/hangers that would prune on a weekly basis or something.

I don't think the permissions system would be all that big of a task to be honest, it can be as simple a forum permission system that's simple and easy to organize but also allows large customization with custom groups.
