Hi!

We will be holding a mass test on Buckingham on Thursday, November 22nd, at 19:00 UTC (= EVE time). We are aware that this collides with Thanksgivings in the US, but we hope that our players from Europe can fill the ranks.

What exactly is being tested?
  • Performance of the Retribution expansion
  • New explosions, ship models, ...
  • New brackets, new damage notifications
  • Payout of bounties
  • Crimewatch

How to connect to Buckingham for this test:

Test steps:

  • Meet in 6-CZ49
  • Warp to a POS
  • Shoot the control tower (~5 minutes)
  • Add bounties to other players
  • Warp to the Reblier gate
  • Jump to Reblier
  • Warp to a planet / POCO
  • Short fight
  • Fleet W: Jump back to 6-CZ49, prepare gate camp
  • Fleet X: Jump to 6-CZ49 - fight
  • Optional: NPCs at a beacon

What else should I know?
  • We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel moveme for this
  • Please bring a good mix of ships! Cynos will be provided.
  • Skill points will be awarded for this mass test
  • Please run logserver during the mass test, if possible.

Not decided yet - it depends on the exact feature list, which will be tested. Feel free to prepare ships in 6-CZ49, you should be able to use the moveme channels then to get them to the correct position.

I do not think you get the point of preparing ships. Plural: Ships. The point is to be able to quickly get another when your first blows up. You do not want your stash of prepared ships to be 20 jumps away. Sure moveme will get return you fast, but you still got to fly the pod to your stash.

Ideally, your clone station is the same as the seeded station which are both in the system where any PvP test takes place, which is also where a special moveme sends you.

lol, I was thinking the same thing. Since when does "moveme" move your entire hangar as well

Assuming we can bring capitals and will have Cynos available or are we keeping this strictly sub-cap ?

Normally both "moveme" and "massmoveme" are online for some time, which can be used to move several ships - but it is clear that it would be better to fit them directly in the correct station.

Will be decided as soon as the systems are decided.

Test server points....you never get given skill points on TQ unless they remove skills and then reimburse you the amount you had trained on them.

The test steps have been added to the instructions and we are starting in 6-CZ49. Feel free to bring capital ships, but I would like to see also a good mix of other ships.

OK, I normally pitch in here and quietly grumble about the fact that USA is pretty much ALWAYS excluded from your testing mix. And that this might NOT be exactly an optimal test precondition, when one considers the number of US zone players, and the fact that most of them connect thru an entirely different of routers than EU does.
(Not saying it kills the tests, or in any way diminishes their value. Just saying a wider variety of data points is better, IMHO)

So, ummm... +5 for scheduling the test when US has the day off...
-5 for scheduling it on Thursday.

I know, it's tradition to run on Thursday, but in the US, Thursday is Thanksgiving/Turkey Day
Friday is All off work, recovering from Thursday, not much to do...

So, that being the case, might a move to Friday be.... a GOOD thing?

Yeah, unfortunately Thanksgivings is colliding with this mass test. I'm sorry that we cannot move the test to a better date for US players, but we hope that enough other players (Europe, ...) will show up this time. The mass test is also starting at 19:00, which should also make it a bit easier for European players. Sad

Whats funny is CCP is like, 'yeah it sucks that this falls on a traditional family holiday, and US won't be there'...and ignores the fact that the everyday occurrence of WORK gets in the way of most US players who would like to participate in MT's...but would prefer to not take a vacation day (or use up valuable sick-days) to do so.

As said many times before, mass tests aren't done around you, they are done around CCP's schedule so they can be present to set it up and actually test stuff in a semi-controlled circumstance.

If it was setup around the players hardly any mass-tests would happen because all the US players will cry they can't due to the TZ difference and if it was setup around the US players all the EU players will cry that they can't. So the best way to do it is look at when CCP is available and work around their schedule.

We need to have Friday to look at the results, read logs, process bug reports, etc. Then Friday and Monday to fix the last-minute issues that are reported and on Tuesday 27 Nov we start the release-porting process and begin building release candidates.

Could you also bug someone to have a look at the reasons we can't bug report from Buckingham if our TQ account is inactive?

My account lapsed over on TQ for a few days (including the last mass test date) and I couldn't report *anything* as http://bugs.eveonline.com and the In game bug report tool refuse to let you login with an expired account.

Also the "save" option on bug reports seems to overwrite itself so if you save one, then save another, the first is lost :/

Never been a part of a mass test before so just a few quick questions

You say a good mix of ships - if i turned up with a couple of BS or BC fitted in the local station would that be suitable, is there scope to test the new destroyers in this action

you mention fleet X and Y - do we form these up ourselves or do you guys just split us evenly

Setting up Buckingham - i already have a recent version of Buckingham from a few days ago. Will there be a reasonable patch before we start, if so do you have an estimated size (assuming my character has been reactivated for buckingham that is)

Log server - does this live in our eve install folder, and where/how do we pass the info from this on to you

Cheers, realise these are probably stupid questions, but want to make sure im contributing not hindering/slowing the process

Yeah, feel free to show up with these ships. Fit a few spare ships, if you plan to show up with destroyers. ;)

Quote:

We will form fleet - just follow the instructions in the MOTD of the MassTesting channel before the test ( http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mass_testing also covers the normal procedures)

The patch size should be comparably small, but I don't know which version you have. We will very likely also deploy a new version later today to fix some bugs.

Yes, it lives in the eve install folder (see http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Logserver for more info). Please send the zipped logs with a bug report to us, but only if you encountered bugs during the test.

Why is Bucky is still locked downWhat? And its upBig smile

Current unfixed bug list to followTwisted Crosshair removal option is gone from the inflight option menu. (Moved to Misc tab in the Overview settings )
Senser Skills are not seeded in 6-c yet. (Fixed)
Fleet hangers have not been updated yet. (New containers still in work)

New tracking camera is more messed up then yesterday. (Being looked into per dev yesterday)

With the advanced camera mode inabled in the esc menu some of the short cuts are not intuative and clash

Focal point box is up and left of where the target settles down. No way to know if it locks.

Camera switching is still not clear. Push to inable is still broken for switching modes.

Fuctionality of follow camera needs to reset to previous camera focul point if it short cut is just a on/ off. It works that way with the selected item box checked but not when its not.

Locked camera angle and follow mode, and advanced camera mode work well they just need a way for the operater to tell when those modes are on. Its like the track player ship and track selected item needs to be linked to the advanced camera menu. and notated in the short cuts as such.

Center camera short cut would make more sense as a on/ off option for the selected item check box. Fuctionality would be clearer.

Scanning needs a second pass. The new area graphics edges picilate terrable when zoomed out.

Also the ability to center on a probe by clicking on its name in the solar system view seems to be missing.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

I'm sure the entire Eve community is reeling because the test wasn't based around your schedule. Vote for me for next CSM election and I promise to represent you and only you in every meeting. Though I currently hold no weight with CCP, I'm going to go ahead and apologize to you on their behalf and ask that they notify you in advance of the next mass test and make sure it works with your schedule.
CCP also seems to have no idea of the importance of the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade or this test would have been scheduled at a different time of day as well. I LOVE A PARADE!
p.s.
More people in the US have Thursday off than they do Friday, seeing as how Thursday is the actual holiday. Also, Thanksgiving DINNER doesn't usually take place at 11:00 AM.
