I'm bone idle and want to know: what's the max number of SPs available.

Prompted by Dr Caymus hitting 200m - I looked at his EB page and he still has lots of skills to go

I would work it out myself, but I don't have a calculator handy

Easy theoretical maximum: 2770SP/hr * 9 (years) * 8765 (hours in a year).

Real answer depends. Maximum SP gain has been different at different times. And was different between races, bloodlines and other starting character choices.

So it would be a pain to work out.

OK, how about all skills currently in the game - forget removed skills eg Learning skills etc, but include skills no longer purchasable (Salvage Drone Operation?) and racial starter skills (Black Market Trading - I biomassed my only char with this useless skill)

A little off topic, but:

Looking at Dr.C (just one example) and some of the other veteran skillsheets, it's kind of cool to know that I might have more SP in drones, or more SP in gunnery, or whatever. It's motivational in some ways.

Thanks!

It's encouraging to know that my main, with 126m SP after nearly 8 years is only 29% of the way there!

And this char with 91m SP is only just over a fifth of the way

Well it is awesome to realize that even for players here since beta there will never be a point where there is nothing left to train.

I read somewhere it would take over 20 years to train every available skill to 5.

Players here since beta with no breaks only have trained about half of the possible SP available. After 9 years. I am sure by the time another nine years passes there will be many more new skills to train or better yet level 6 skills. I believe that no player will ever be able to train every last skill reaching a max level equivalent that plagues all other MMO's.

This is a good thing. You will never run out of ways to improve your character. Although some players claim they have run out of things they want/need to train for their play style. This is where all other MMO's fail after some time. The veteran players get bored after sitting at max level for a time with the best gear they have nothing left to work towards. Sure you can level up a new character but how many times will you do that before losing interest. Certainly not nine years worth. At least not for most players.

before learning skills were removed I was always told it would take over 20 years at max learning to learn all the skills, of course they removed some skills, but they are bound to add more... so only time will tell.

432 Million at max training speed of 2700 sp per hour would take 18.3 years

Realisticly your looking at around 20 - 22 years if your well dissaplined and use your remaps wisely and don't keep losing your implants from being poddedBig smile

An MMO lasting 18 years - that'd be something to see! I've already been with EVE longer than I've been with my wife (no, she's not mail order), she's very understanding and often refers to EVE as my second woman. Luckily, she likes Guild Wars so she can't complain about me playing games

When my daughter hits two years old, I'll have been playing EVE for ten years.

Not sure about Lvl 6 skills - don't think it'd work well with everything - I think some skills would need tweaking, but, if nothing else, CCP are not afraid to fiddle with the status quo, to implement change (eg the recent barge/exhumer changes - love them!)

I've lasted 8 years and tried PVP or joined a big alliance or messed about in null sec - still plenty for me to do. Looking forward to it

Last time I counted…

Corporaton Management — 29 ranks → 7,424,000 SP
Drones — 83 ranks → 21,248,000 SP
Electronics — 81 ranks → 20,736,000 SP
Engineering — 61 ranks → 15,616,000 SP
Gunnery — 178 ranks → 45,568,000 SP
Industry — 95 ranks → 24,320,000 SP
Leadership — 62 ranks → 15,872,000 SP
Mechanics — 140 ranks → 35,840,000 SP
Missiles — 94 ranks → 24,064,000 SP
Navigation — 38 ranks → 9,728,000 SP
Planetary Management — 17 ranks → 4,352,000 SP
Science — 267 ranks → 68,352,000 SP
Social — 20 ranks → 5,120,000 SP
Spaceship Command — 458 ranks → 117,248,000 SP
Subsystems — 20 ranks → 5,120,000 SP
Trade — 35 ranks → 8,960,000 SP

∑ 429,568,000 SP

18 years, 57 days (not counting leap years), 16 hours, 15 minutes, 50 seconds at the current max training speed of 2700 SP/h, but it hasn't been possible to keep that speed up until recently, and even now, it's pretty much impossible to maintain it for all the different attribute combinations you'll be going through.

…also, this doesn't include some of the deprecated and unofficial skills that some people still have, which would add maybe a dozen more ranks.

So i don't need:

Corporation management --->7,424,000.
Industry --------------------------> 24,320,000.
Leadership ---------------------->15,872,000.
Planetary management ------> 4,352,000.
Science --------------------------> 68,352,000.
Social ----------------------------->5,120,000.
Trade ----------------------------->8,960,000.

In short, there's 134,440,000 SP i'll never train to level 5, so if we deduct this from the total you calculated, i come 295,128,000 as my total where everything i'm interested in is maxed to level 5.....I currently have 181 million SP, so to hit that mark will only take a little over 4 1/2 years at my current training pace of 24 million SP a year, and i do have 3 spare remaps btw, wich is more than enough for the forseable future.....
