We died here by the millions, but then again, we didn't. Here we first tasted immortality, and paid for each rebirth with caved-in chests, guts spread over half an acre, breathing the scent of our own plasma-roasted flesh. We have felt blades made to hack through combat armor sneer at mere flesh and bone. We know what it is to be cracked open and wasted by machines of destruction never intended to be turned on sentient meat. We know what it is to be a suicide, and how insanely blind we have become to the act of faith that represents.

The flesh endures.

Here we watched every soul we have touched in our new lives meet the same fate, often at our own hands. Here we lost the knowing of love from hate. My enemies have become my only brothers, and we will make our fortunes at each other's throats.

You all remember - from your old lives, from before. How it was when you first came home from war. How you could have never predicted that, how you listened to the lectures and the carefully rationed advice from a few kindly vets. And so you became what you were - a dog of war, whose true home was a place that should never be named.

Now this, where in this short time, the idea of home becomes manifestly alien. Is your flesh your home?

Here. This rock. Where we were born. Where we first stood up out of the dust. Where we have learned our true strength.

From here we will leap - and tear down the gods from the sky.

We must honor it, and name it before we go. Only we have the right. Only we bear the duty.
