Why would you use that when you can use this? http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Caldari_VS_Gallente (Serious question)

Crucial things the other map lacks
- Which faction owns the system (affects LP, where you can dock etc)
- Which systems have stations

Because I had no idea Dotlan did that. :) I figured everything still had be viewed at a region-by-region level.

(No excuse for not knowing that, actually. Now that I'm looking at Dotlan, there's a big link called Faction Warfare.)

This thread was valuable. I learned something new.

Yea it's nice to have a second option, but I agree you just can't beat the dotlan maps. They give updated info that is needed for FW guys. A static map is ok for guys just traveling, but FW guys really need the updated info.

I will say even dotlan could use a little updating since the changes to FW. It would be great if it showed info on how contested a system was and if it were vulnerable.

It would also be nice if they changed the color codes for systems being contested/vulnerable to a different color for each side. In the past it was easy because you simply didn't have that many systems that were contested. Now days pretty much every system is contested or vulnerable if it's not a home system causing the entire map to pretty much always be pink.

It would be nice, but it is not dotlan's fault. The use the FW system API which only has a boolean flag whether a system is contested or not. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_API_Maps_Factional_Warfare_Systems

I don't really like Dotlan's aesthetics, but it's hard to beat the information they provide.

Basically it's useful only in terms of finding mission hubs. That's the entire point -- in all other cases (except when dotlan is down) Dotlan's more useful.

Well, for finding agents (not exactly sure what a "mission hub" is) I like this better myself: http://eve-agents.com/

The in-game agent finder is fairly good too. It's one of those features they added that I always forget to use.
