What's up with the Plex trend in courier contracts?

They appear more often now. What's the use? Everyone is completely nuts and we all forget to go to a trade-hub to redeem them or what? I don't get it. Why would you even want to haul Plex anyway? I bet it's a scam, not sure how though.

unless you bought a GTC and added it to your account for redeeming anywhere in EVE, there is no way to sell plex in eve without moving it from where you bought it. Not everyone uses them for game time. Some people trade in them. Some people trade in them outside of Jita. Imagine that.

Somebody recently posted something along the lines of "can't believe this is so succesful", then described setting a courier contract of junk but with a description of "Lots of PLEX". Suckers then presumably purposely fail contract without looking in it or get ganked. Never underestimate stupidity and greed.

Suspect this post triggered wave upon wave of people trying the same thing.

reverse redeem, move to jita, redeem, presto you teleported it in complete safety

if you're moving a plex in a ship you're a moron

Slightly related but not really, during Burn Jita I sent out medium sized loads of junk (enough so it would have to go in a hauler) from every trade hub to jita. I made like 8 contracts and only 6 loads of junk made it to Jita. Easiest 600mil ever.

you can reverse redeem only to the location you initially redeemed it.

e.g.-- you buy a gtc, redeem it in Jita. Then you change your mind and reverse redeem it. If you try to redeem it somewhere else, it will tell you that you can only redeem to the original station.

You can redeem it remotely. Just open your assets, find the PLEx, right click and presto 30 days added.

This is very helpful as I live in a wormhole.

Doesn't help you SELL it if you BOUGHT it ingame.

I'm not a reseller and I don't see any tears. Just pointing out to the OP (several replies above) that transport of plex is required at some point for resale of plex being traded rather than used. But you go right on with the random posting.

You can reverse redeem plex from anywhere you like and then redeem them in the station you are in... but ssshhhh... don't tell anyone, those huge killmails with tons of plex in a t1 industrial are funny.

Did you ever try that? Once an item had been "in-game", you can't redeem it to a different location. If you buy your PLEX in Amarr, reverse-redeem and move to Jita and then redeem, it's gonna pop up in Amarr again...

Why would i need to reread it? I read it correctly the first time and #7 is wrong as far as i have tested.
I have reverse redeemed a few plex and then re-redeemed them in Jita or wherver else i wanted them, no problem.

These were plex from the market, not GTCs, so i am not sure if the mechanic is different if you redeemed your plex through a GTC initially.

Confirming that as of two weeks ago you COULD NOT use the "reverse redeem" / "redeem" trick to move plex bought off the market. It was only available at the station where it was "reverse redeemed".

Perhaps something changed with the release this week?

Seriously?? It's a risk like anything else... You can fit a LOT of PLEX into an interceptor and in high sec you just aint going to be caught, unless you are silly enough to auto-pilot of course. Then you deserve everything you get Blink.

I do admit, however, that if you fly around with 15,000 PLEX in your interceptor cargo hold then you are a bit dumb! Not that either I or anyone else is that rich Cool.

This is easy enough to test (and a sure indicator that you didn't).

It has not been possible to "teleport" PLEX since at least the time they changed them to transportable, destuctible items. Don't believe me? Here's Akita T saying it more than a year ago: http://eve-search.com/thread/1504016/page/all. I retested it to see whether it had changed again with Inferno, but it has not.

There is no difference based on where the PLEX came from. Once you turn it into an ingame PLEX, it can only be moved by ship. If you reverse redeem it into your account, you can only redeem it back into game at the location you reverse redeemed it. This is true for all characters on the account. If you switch to a different character and try to redeem it back into the game as PLEX, it will still clearly list the target station in red text.

I think its safe to conclude that the reason you can't move it through reverse redeeming is so that players have to move them for resale, which leads to the T1 kills discussed elsewhere in the thread.

If there is some other way to move them, I'm sure everyone would like to know the exact method that you used. My testing has found no workaround. Perhaps you and others meant that it makes no sense to move PLEX once you've bought them if you're going to use PLEX to pay for your game time.

Would it not stand to reason that if you wanted to get PLEX for the purposes of trading, would you not just park yourself in Jita (assuming that is where you wanted to trade it) first, then get your plex, and then toss it on the market? That way you are not risking anything in transportation.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.
