Hello all, after much umming and aahing I've decided to take the plunge and make a PVP video. But owing to a lack of any proper editing software - or even footage for that matter - I decided to make this a test subject. It's now uploaded and ready to download on the link below:

Once upon a time, I was a devoted carebear. Hulk, alt in an Orca with max'd out boosts, the works. But something happened to me... I guess I'd been staring at asteroids too long because I wanted to see what else there is out there.
That was about two years ago. Now, having spent that time training nothing but combat-related skills, it's time to head out there and show the world that this carebear has some teeth. And in a way I still am a carebear, because one of my favourite pastimes is to undock an Amarrian BS and melt some Sansha or Blood - but every now and then, the call of the pew beckons...

This is a test video and sadly includes some Sisi footage, you've been warned! But if you do download, I am very interested to hear your constructive feedback, I'm well aware that it's quite crap for a number of reasons(fail disco Vindis aside) and can see some improvements that can be made already. For example, recording AND encoding in the same resolution.
Allow me to emphasise that I am not really looking for feedback on the fights, but I am MORE than happy to let you poke me about things I did wrong on a technical level. This whole video is a technical exercise and was my first proper attempt in using Windows Movie Maker, but even my newbie editing ass can tell it's a pile of shite and I'd love to try again with a different program.

That said, it opens up with a Hulk killing something..

Well, the titles and editing are done nicely. Are you frapsing at half-frame? It looks a bit fuzzy but if local is readable then that's fine really.

The hulk footage was amusing enough. I don't like pure gank videos but when it's bads being beaten at their own game then I think it's hilarious.

I think you already know the SISI stuff is bad to include in a PVP vid (and you should feel bad etc)!

The sleip vs abso is the sort of thing you want to be focussing on. Nice derp on the overheating by the way :P Easily done, and I'm sure you realise that cost you the fight. If I was going to be overly critical, arranged matches like this need to be mixed in with unknown risky PVP but it was an interesting enough fight that could have gone either way. A couple more fights like this one in place of the sisi stuff would have been cool.

Overall it looks like you are having fun getting into PVP but you would get more interesting footage if you take some risks and get out into the unknown! Of course this is easy for me to say, nowadays I just fart about in frigates.

It's nice to get a video out but now you have, work on getting into more of the interesting fights for the next one.

I hope this doesn't sound too patronising as it's really just meant to be about what makes an interesting video, not how you should play the game. I'm terribad at PVP but I know what makes for interesting viewing.

Respect for getting out in low sec solo too. I'd be interested to see how you develop your skills B)

Thanks for taking the time to leave that nice block of feedback. I don't find it patronising at all, it's honestly the kind of thing I was hoping to get. I was expecting a whole load of trolling actually, but if this is the only post I'm getting it's a bloody good one to have.

I fraps'd at a smaller resolution than I eventually encoded at, hence the slighty fuzzy text in places. A newbie error, next time I'll make sure to record/encode at the same res.

I'm glad you liked the Hulk part, it's actually the second kill I've gotten with one but the only one I've recorded. I might go out there with a Covetor... we'll have to see though, but imagine if I got a kill in that!

The Sisi stuff was there purely for padding and to practice my editing/narrating. I will edit the top post to explain why it's even there in the first place, but to cut a long story short this is a test video to see whether WMM has any potential... and it's pretty crap, even in my newbie editing eyes ;) Lack of flexibility with things like placing text is a big one, and I want to do stuff like I've seen in so many other videos! Basically I sacrificed content in the name of learning the program, which is the only reason the lame Vindi footage even ended up there. And that was horribly rubbish if I do say so myself!
So needless to say, the next one will be purely TQ and I will take onboard your recommendation to spice the action up a bit. As for overheating derps I think it's time to train Thermodynamics 5 Cool Still can't believe I did that...
