Microtransactions and NEX Store - just remember...

I know I'm late to the party on this, but as I've just read the minutes from the emergency summit on Incarna, I felt the need to post before taking my final leave of the forums and the game:

"game-breaking" does not mean the same as "performance-enhancing" or "advantage-giving".

By stating they are only not planning on "game-breaking" items in the NEX store, the way is clear for the introduction of boosters and special items that will be sourced only from the NEX store. Of course, ANYONE could buy PLEX with ISK, then they get the item without using real cash. The catch is the item can only be obtained via a cash transaction somewhere down the line when the PLEX was purchased.

These minutes indicate clearly to anyone with at least one functioning braincell that CCP really want to sell items that will give gameplay advantages to players via the NEX store in the future.

So, how do you define game-breaking?

For me, advantage-items (i.e. non-vanity items) are game-breaking, and a deal-breaker. I'm going now before I waste any more money or time here.

So, Bye Eve, bye CCP. Was fun before the bugs overrode the ship's course.

Another ****** who thinks THIS will make their game P2Win when we've been selling currency for real money, that people could use to buy better items at Jita since forever.

Just because you can buy a ton of plex to buy in game ships does not mean anything. remember there are plenty of people who can liberate you of those ships very easily.



now back to the op. You sir are an idiot and will not be missed. Game breaking is a very broad term that means, anything that would give a player an advantage over another will not be put in game. Soundwave and other devs said it numerous times after the whole fiasco in the old forums and parlay.

This is nonsense.

Aurum items go on the market, and PLEX can be bought on the market to trun in and get aurum items from. Paying real money just gives you them faster and makes them more available, which is exactly what buying PLEX and selling them for ISK has been doing for the best items in the game for years. There is no 'paywall' and only a fool would think there was one.

Sorry guys, your game was P2Win a loooooong time ago, but it's doing just fine because as others have said... better or more organized players can go blow your stuff up right out from under you regardless of how you got it.

I find it hilarious how the people against this stuff have to draw a fortress of invisible lines on both sides of their issue. They have to assume items will be added to ruin the game and that CCP will not help on one side, and they have to assume this somehow changes things from before on the other side. Neither side holds up to scrutiny. It's purely hype and willful ignorance driving the discontent.
