Seriously, the launcher is useless to the players. I'm glad, CCP, that it's helping you, really. But these unexpected patches that are breaking our UI settings are BS. Make the launcher useful for us, please.

1) Have the launcher notify us that it needs to be restarted to apply a patch.
2) Have it notify us that the patch might break something
3) Have it notify us how to recover from the broken something with minimum of fuss

My UI settings were reset. While the good folks here on the forum have identified a workaround to restore those settings, some of us might look at the UI reset as just that and attempt to waste our time to fix it instead of restarting the client. And personally, it infuriates me that we have a launcher, that gets updated, that breaks our UI settings, when you already know of a fix and the launcher doesn't try to first communicate such before breaking those settings.

If the launcher can be made to notify us, how about giving us more control over the update process on our end?

Don't ban me, bro!

hint - if you see the launcher come up that is enough warning that something may break ;-p

I view all patches as having the potential to break something. Knowing what that something is can only be found by observing the broken behavior. Fixing the broken behavior might be something I can do on my end or might not. In the case of the former, one would have to know what the fix is. A posting on the forum, IDK, might not be the appropriate vehicle to communicate such when maybe a new feature like a LAUNCHER could be made to communicate such before the damage is done.

Since the launcher knows it needs to update and the player does not having zero control over the update process, it would be a good feature to have the launcher notify the player with all pertinent information before hand. Would it not?

Turn off the launcher. It's easy. Imagine offering advice to programmers when you can't figure out how to turn off the launcher. A massive ego is not a replacement for smarts...derp.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.
