Still have the post-it note... I'm going to take a better look at the system to verify that things are set up the way we think they are, and then talk to them again (I do have other stuff I am working on, so I am not sure when I can do that though)
CCP karkur and CCP Atlas have figured out a good way to implement this feature for the benefit of market professionals and this is now in progress.

Nair Alderau loves CCP karkur, Atlas and Explorer.

And if adding modify/cancel order to the right-click menu makes it too... *swoon*

So.. More market-bots incoming? I really, really hope you consider how you do this, and that you know this will possibly make market-bots even easier to create and use.

Actually, its the other way around. Adjusting orders was very easy for market bots already, who don't gain any additional, useful stuff that i could see.

With the change, it would be more easy to do for us humans though.

While you're redoing some of th market UI, would you consider looking into this:

Yes, and easier for bots as well. Less comparison needed to figure out whether or not the bot has been outbid.
I might just be overreacting and crying wolf, though. But the fact that it will make it easier to make market-bots has been one of the main arguments against this, whenever it has been brought up (on MD, anyway).

Anyways, I've just remembered another UI thing that I'd like changed: The fact that my wallet's "transactions" tab blinks when I set up a new order. Could this please be changed? In fact, I'd love it if there were a bunch of other blink-options available, but I can only think of that one right now. :P

Is it slightly easier to program market bots to do this then?

Probably yes.

But market bots are already able to do this, and it isn't difficult to write them nowadays anyway.

Market bots don't get better, at best they are a little bit easier to code after that change (and not much), but that hasn't stopped them so far...
(I doubt the existing bots would even change their code, why would they? If they work now, they wouldn't gain anything by adjusting the way they work.)

This is a big help for human traders, no help to existing bots, and a small (unneeded) help for future bot-coders.

I'd say thats a win overall.

Wow, okay, I can't provide an example because the system won't allow HTML. Joy.

Anyhow! This is easily reproducible. I've noticed that when mails are sent from EVE Gate and opened in game, certain special characters (such as the apostrophe, or ') are replaced by their HTML counterparts. While it's pretty easy to parse the message as it was intended, it is also quite annoying. Could something maybe be done about this?

You know the notifications in EvE Gate?

Wouldn't it be great if they directed you to the post or last posts in the treat instead of the first page?

I'm always want to facepalm when i see post like this....

So Zedolf (lol, almost like "Adolf"), in your opinion they shouldn't make helpful stuff (like lightning orders on our route - thnx for that) just because someone can use it for botting? Pffffff.....
Or maybe they should put this on the market background to make bots life harder?

Explorer (kiss for u :*) said that there should be "100x likes button". I think there should be also dislike button.

(I don't like to be unpleasant to anyone, but sometimes its hard to refrain....)

Maybe I'm missing something, but how would highlighting a given player's market orders for that player alone increase botting activity? The only thing this change would do is make it easier for a player (who doesn't have the ability to compare data like a machine) to spot their own orders in a large group without having to make visual comparisons between the wallet and market.

Most bots in eve work on recognizing colors in given xy point on the screen - Macro clikers. Making new separate color for own market orders will make it easier for macro bots to recognize them on the screen. They did that without colors, so they will do it after adding it.
But still this doesnt change my opinion that this will be good move for us - nonbot marketers.

Feedback from Fanfest UI Roundtable. You asked for it, you're getting some

NB: I was the person who asked the very first question at the roundtable, regarding usability issues in the UI for the colorblind

I mentioned that the change to the color scheme for routes in 'set destination' was a help, though I still can't quite distinguish the 0.5 to low sec border by color. There I hover over to see if there are any lowsec systems. Someone else mentioned the possibility of using pattern or shapes to distinguish rather than color, and perhaps that could be used in the route. Something like vertical lines for high sec, diagonal lines for lowsec, horizontal lines for nullsec. For many years scientific journals would not allow the use of color in graphs because they didn't want the additional cost of color printing the journals. They used patterns like that for bar graphs and occasional pie chart

Corp member vs. war target in local listing: My colorblindness is of the red/green variety, and I really can't readily tell the difference between the symbols for a corp member vs. a war target in the local listing, because the only difference is that one is green, the other is red. I might not immediately recognize a new corp member's name, and ironically, I can shoot both a war target and a fellow corp member in high sec without invoking CONCORD. If the symbol for a war target were something other than a star, it would really help

Something that has nothing to do with color: If I am zoomed out in terms of what is being displayed in space, and I move my mouse pointer from somewhere on the lower left, like for a chat window or the module interface, to the right side, where I typically have my overview, it can pass over a section of the screen where there are many objects stacked in roughly the same spot. The exploded listing of those items pops up, and stays there, sometimes spanning from the top of the screen to the bottom, and occluding other, more important information. I have to click somewhere to get rid of it. How about if the exploded listing was only there while the mouse pointer was over the spot where the stacked items were located? That way I am indicating what I want to see, for as long as I want to see it

Thank

P.S. I would love to see that video one more time, at least played a little more slowly so that I could see all

I think we all see your point and it's really a valid one, because this is important info for everyone and not just some extra "nice" info. I'll raise this with the group again, and see if we can do something about it.

I think I can actually help you with that. If I'm not misunderstanding the issue, you can change the tag color, tag icon and background color of these characters. Open the overview settings, and I think the tab is called "appearance", and there you can change the colors/tags if you right click the entries. I hope that help, otherwise I have no idea what you are talking about P

I am not sure if I know what you are talking about, but I'll give this a try next week Smile

I'm not sure we want the whole world to see that videoP... some of these ideas are nowhere close to being worked on, so I'm afraid people might get some unrealistic expectations about what's coming. Just feel special that you saw it Blink
I'll ask around though to see if people want to publish it Smile

Wow, ad Hitlerum already?

I never said they shouldn't add it because it can be used for botting, I said it could possibly make it easier to make bots, which could in turn increase the amount of bots in use.

You even say so yourself:

Well, please accept my apologies. I definitely misunderstood your statement.

And the "Adolf" was only association, so don't take it too much serious :)
