Automated probe launchers

the probe launchers really need to get "upgraded", it's pretty boring to have to spam the button until it says that you have max number of probes in the air! why can't they work like any other module?

you turn them on, and then they run...... until they are empty or you stop em!

so please can you do that? :D

Bad idea. Half the time I launch probes, I launch just one, do a quick scan, and scoop it up. Having the launcher cycle til I have 7 probes in space would be annoying. Not to mention, I position my probes as I launch them. Piling them all up would mess up my probing method.

I could see this happening, so long as it has the "disable auto-repeat" function (preferably disabled by default, to prevent the same mess-up that the filters debacle did and let those of us who prefer to launch them manually launch them, do so).

This!

Good idea. Ignore idiots wearing monocles. If you just want to launch one probe, you turn it off after it's launched one.

Supported.

Since when does auto-repeat mean 'must run indefinitely'? You can click again to launch only one probe or disable auto-repeat entirely if you don't like it. Personally, I d-scan until I find things I want to probe and then mostly launch all probes.

I agree 100% with auto-repeat for probe launchers. Especially since it should not require much effort from CCP to implement.

I launch a probe, move it into position during the reload cycle, then launch another one. It's a faster method than launching them all and putting them into position, AND I can tell by probe number which one is in which position (this matters sometimes, for me at least).

You're suggesting that I should have to start and stop the launcher for every probe I launch, because you're lazy and want to just crap out probes until you hit your max. Those of us who are far more efficient with our time do NOT want this "feature".

Just because you're the only person in EvE that does probes stupidly, doesn't make this a bad idea.

End of.

I'm quite consistently the first to get sites or ships scanned down when there's more than one person working on it. My process is very efficient, and your inability to understand it has no bearing on whether it is "stupid".

I don't autocycle my cap boosters either. I suppose you're going to tell me I'm doing that wrong as well?

Why do I find that so hard to doubt, when I really can't see how you wouldn't be able to use your method with a continually cycling probe launcher. It wouldn't launch all of them at once, they would still appear one at a time. If you don't think you can manage something as simple as that, there's is not a chance in hell you are as quick as you claim to be.

Maybe you're just slow, and you're friends are even slower.

If you're moving a probe when another one launches, it resets the position of the probe you were moving into place. Didn't you know know that? I found out by experimenting, trying to find ever-faster scanning methods. Seconds can make a difference when racing other explorers in highsec plexes or trying to get a group of probes launched and out of dscan range as quickly as possible.

Move them before the next cycle starts then.

from my point of view....

if you want to fire only 1 time on a ship, does that mean that auto-repeat should be off on every modules too? same for shield boosters? if you want to launch only one probe, you just double click your module..... but anyway, if it comes with the auto-repeat on/off option it's the end of it! everyone would be happy as I understand it!

and btw, being able to launch all probes automatically with an auto-repeat system would let you position your probes while they launch.... so you can probe faster!

SO SET YOUR AUTO-REPEAT OFF! This is a good feature! Stop trolling! if you don't like don't use it! It will not change your game!

Also CCP can do it in less then 30 minutes ManHour...

yeah that's what I think too, it's not that big so CCP should be able to do it quite fast.....

so now... we just wait to see if anyone from CCP will read this tread?

i dont think his idea would clash with your technique of launching at all

for what do you need 7 f*cking probes at all? You hardly need 5 of them, in most cases 4 probes suit the purpose perfectly.

And no, this makes no sense.

you obviously dont probe very often, or you probe only easy stuff! take the blue pill man or it'll crash your reality!
