Cloaked bombers and assaultships

Recently our devs have been working on making smaller ships more usefull, so was thinking and came up with an idea.

How about giving stealth bombers a new type of cloaking device. This mod gives them the ability to stay cloaked while firing bombs. As this is op as hell, there has to be a counter, so lets give the assaultship a mod to scan for these ships. The mod would have a range of 20k, so that there would still be a strategic element. Or make the mod that it can be used by every ship, but the assaultship gets a bonus to range.

let me know what you think should be changes, added or removed alltogether.

Why? What's wrong with SB cloaking as-is? It seems to be working perfectly fine so far.

Its a buff, not a nerf m8. Id say, it makes it more exiting this way

Yes, it is a buff. An un-needed one. And it doesn't make things more exciting, it simply makes things safer for SBs.

SB bomber wings are already quite popular and do their job well, they don't need a buff.

True, however the assaultship is not.

The idea of this mechanic is introducing the "cat and mouse" play into big fleetfights, witch usually are pretty static. Assaultships are verry good at this sort of thing.

Actually, AFs already perform quite well at their roles. They are amazing frigate-sized DPS. They are used a lot in solo/small gang PvP. Not everything needs to be used in large fleet combat, it's not the only thing out there.

tl;dr: It all comes back to "If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it". And neither AFs nor SBs are broken right now.

You made 2 arguments, none of them have convinced me to drop this idea.

The first is that AF allready have a role and perform it well. This is true, but there is no rule that sais that every ship just needs one role to perform. Why shouldnt AF's be introduced into big fleetfights? Witch brings me to your second point: If it aint broke, dont fix it.
There is no reason not to add a new layer to fleetfights. These AF's will have an important role to perform, whether its just stayin alive or to kill the bombers. A SB wing exists why not add a AF wing to counter them?

So...you want ships that can fire while cloaked? This ain't Star Trek. There are already people pissed off enough about how "invulnerable" people are while cloaked. Let's not be stupid and make it worse.

Was thinking about that, and how about making this cloak penetrable with you directional scanner. Just give the AF a bonus to that.
