if you were forced to experience an event of total civilization breakdown, what would you rather it be? in other words, would you rather be in a zombie apocalypse fighting for survival or would you rather be fighting in world war 3 where russia iran and china invaded america and you were forced to defend your country from obliteration?

i personally would choose zombie apocalypse...

Zombies don't shoot back and it's easier to hide from them.

yea true that, but i think it would be harder to have to kill a zombie who was your friend before or even a loved one....vs having them a casualty of war...i wonder which of the 2 scenarios is more likely to happen?...either the biochemical/medical world will accidentally create a zombie virus, or politics will win the day and armies will invade eachother....lol.

funny thing tho i remember reading an article about the likelihood of a zombie virus, and it mentioned that the zombie virus would be eating away at the brain slowly, impairing its ability to run, which requires precise motor reflexes that a decaying brain could not do. so either way if a zombie virus would break out, its good to know at least they would be the shuffling slow and stupid bastards from the old days zombie flicks and not the raving mad running zombies from 28 days later Cool

Zombies. I have a brilliant idea that requires thousands of shambling zombies to solve the world's energy problems.

First, kill off most of the population. This will reduce consumption to a more modest level. The zombies will have already taken care of this. Then you take the zombies, put them in giant hamster wheels, and figure out what you need to get them to walk in the same direction constantly. Some sort of bait, whatever drives them to try to eat people. Hook their wheels up to generators, and BANG instant green energy.

What would the zombies use for energy?

I choose WW3. There is no remotely plausible way that any of those countries could invade the US, so any hypothetical war will either:

1) Be fought in some other country, so I can "defend my country from obliteration" by flying a drone from a nice safe office building in the US.

or

2) Be fought with nuclear weapons and over within about 45 minutes, which, unlike the zombie apocalypse, offers a nice instant and painless death.

Well I'm glad we cleared that one up.

Americans are more afraid of zombies than Iran, Russia or China

What about chinese zombies? How do we feel about them?

Well they're fast little suckers who still think the war is going but easy enough to handle if you already have power armor and a assault rifle.

But, the rioting and chaos is the best part!

I'm going with zombies on this one. Much easier to handle providing they aren't the sprinting type, which you really should clarify whenever presenting a zombie scenario.

I can't kill an invading army with a good spear and machete (at least not very easily).
Zombies on the other hand? I can stab a lot of zombie brain before I get tired. What are they gonna do about it? Groan at me?

I would prefer a biblical apocalypse so that I know that at least some people had a chance to go on to something better and that not everything that happened here on Earth was rendered ultimately meaningless.

What makes you think your choice compared with either of the ones presented are mutually exclusive?

It's very likely that life's underlying meaning lies in the journey we make, not some theoretical destination. What happens tomorrow doesn't necessarily invalidate my actions today.

I know it's your choice. I just can't wrap my mind around the logic in your explanation.

zombism has yet to be done right. so i would pick that. zombism would be like it is in nature to bees and ants ect. so it would be much easier to survive. so i pick that

If I live in Russia, it seems a better alternative to be on the invading side rather the defending side. So that alternative really only seem constructed for you yanks. (A common trend I have noted, most Americans seem to have a very biased "us vs them" view, and assume everyone is American in various discussions.)

Thus, i will have to go for zombies.

A gamma ray burst will only instantly kill off HALF of the planet.

The other half will suffer probably the ultimate hellish chaos imaginable. Partial atmosphere ripped away, fire raining from the sky, panic, riots, cats and dogs living together. . .

EDIT: at least i think that is how it would work-- correct me if I'm wrong.

No need to figure out what the bait is. People are the bait.
What drives them to eat people? The fact that they are made out of people.

MMMmmmm, people.

No I'm not a zombie. . . yet.

But if I were a zombie, . . . Q. why wouldn't I use any of my firearms?
They are simple to operate, make up for my slow ambulation. And if I had the mental capacity to utter the word "brainnnns. . ." which is obviously a conscious request for a specific food item, then I should be able to remember how to load a cartrige and pull a trigger.
