You know how you keep bitchin' about how EVE's getting all easy-mode and WOW-y?
That's only gonna be true when a corpie asks me what I'm doing and the answer isn't "hell if I know".

That point's a way off.Big smile

People have actually said that this game is getting "wow-y"? How does that make sense? It's not like we have instant queue Incursion fleets that warp us from one end of the galaxy to the other in a single click. Or achievements. Or special PVP areas (since the entire game is a "battleground"). We don't have elves, CCP doesn't use every color available to them (see The Burning Crusade), resulting in fruity colors and cartoony graphics.

Most of all, I've seen a few dumb people in my time so far, but not even close to the amount I had encountered on a trip to Azeroth I had once taken, since most of my friends praise WoW and hate EVE.

Everytime they change the names of items people start screaming about EVE IS WOW NOW!!!
Or when they change any number of other things that were basically tedious or overly complex that did not add value to gameplay.

These are official forums. Official game forums exist entirely because of whining.

If you actually want to hear from people who like the game, go to a fansite.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

I thought forums were for constructive feedback and community involvement.

In a perfect world, yes.

However, this is not a perfect world.

As a result, there is very little constructive feedback and community involvement.

EVE subscribers have recently increased from 300k to now somewhere above 400k as stated a few months ago.

I would just like to point out CCP is doing a horrible job and EVE is dying.

Also BOB, NC, DRF, CFC are ruining Null Sec and will soon own all of it.

That's because no one else wants it or cares. There's nothing that makes one part of space special over another (except some fine stats) and there are too many high end alliance level warfare tactical problems for anyone to be bothered. When the face of null warfare changes there will be reason again to take internet spaceships and their wars seriously. Until then the major alliances will likely continue playing silly games (Look at what TEST, PL, Brick Squad, White Noise, Goons, AAA, pretty much all the heavy hitters have been doing lately. Silly tactics, silly targets, silly fleets (mostly) because they are bored! None of them care much about their sov... and they don't need to because no other power blocks with the punch required to stand against them can be bothered!)

"Internet Negativity Syndrome"

Anything out of a person who is on the internet has a high chance of being negative because the conditions of the individual posting are such that the mental state is proven to be negative.

Such conditions surrounding being on the internet posting on a forum would include:

Being alone.
Waiting for something or something looked forward to being postponed (stood up on a date, bad weather, bored to death at work, etc).
Not getting laid or cannot even if attempted/ or lack of money.
Being so depressed for so long that there is a disconnect from the cause of it.

Sufferers of INS will have a negative opinion of EVERYTHING, no matter what it is, and what the actual facts are.

Places that are most affected are MMO game boards (I'm not kidding) followed by "gun and survival" boards and hobbyist boards.

The only visible symptome of INS is a beard that extends down the front of the neck. Women are less likely to suffer from INS because they can simply go out and someone else will buy them drinks.

Regarding how "un-WOW" Eve is. Anyone who thinks WOW is total Hello Kitty Land never played a PVP server. WOW does not have anything like Concord. I think the only thing that makes WOW so "WOW-ish" is that you don't lose your stuff when you get killed.

Everything else is just simply differences that are not enough to base an entire reason to play the game on.

People claiming EVE is becoming WoW have not played WoW recently.

A friend recently gave me a free week of WoW.

I played a grand total of 20 minutes. EVE is not becoming WoW. WoW is becoming... Candyland.

Well, I've played WoW. I've also played Everquest when it was first released as well as Everquest 2 along was a whole host of other MMOs. What people tend to say about WoW and other themepark games is a whole lot of elitist rubbish. There are some dungeons in WoW that only a few guilds have managed to complete. However for the most part they are watered down casual friendly games that are very accessible to non-gamers. For the most part these games are not really meant for gamers or at least the gamer that would want to play EVE. EVE is far more PvP centric than WoW could ever be while WoW does casual PvE very well. However, from my experience of MMOs PvP in PVE centric games tend to be poor and vice versa.

But I agree that we do not give CCP enough credit and there seems to be a trend in the forums of nitpicking over small changes such as renaming mods or small changes to the the rat spawns. They may have botched the captains quarter release and pissed of a few people off with the in game store. But overall EVE has turned into an amazing game and we should remember that from time to time. If you look what happened to the original EQ and Star Wars or even the Dark Age of Camelot where games where allowed to stagnate and decline so developers could just focus on the next big thing while their playbase are completely ignored.

CCP do listen to you as long as your concerns are resonable and they do a lot of work behind the scene to keep in touch of what is going on in the game. The amount of contact between us and them is something that just doesn't happen in other games apart from one that has a very small comunity. The only Blizzard or Sony employee I've ever seen are GM's dressed up as fairies. The idea of them roaming in the game and PKing players is just a non-starter.

I know the game is not perfect, the PVE is just... dull there are too many bots and the UI is out of control and patch days seem to be a trial. EVE will never be the perfect game or the most popular one but it's community and CCP makes it by far the most dynamic, interesting and complex games out there. Lets celebrate that while we spy, steal, pod and scam each other.

Wow is dying, Eve is dying, every MMO is dying!

GW2 is dying and they haven't even released it yet!

It's over people!

They only thing left to play is Angry Birds. Shocked
