Hello,

Thank you for bringing this up. However, I would like to remind everyone that botting and other EULA violations should be reported via the petition system (or an email to security@ccpgames.com); the public forums are really not an appropriate venue for this.

Please keep the discussion going but keep the above in mind.

Yeah. If there is enough evidence then let CCP investigate. But they seem to fail at killing bots so maybe its time to incorporate them as a final solution to the problem.

Mining is supposed to be the foundation of EVE's economy but honestly, it's also the most boring thing you can do next to waiting on a skill to train. Everyone wants to cheat it somehow in order to do the things they like. I am all for blowing up bots but I understand what leads some people to do it. So, perhaps its time to look at solving the problem in a similar way to introducing PLEX as a counter to outside RMT.

Make it part of the game. Let CCP introduce a legal botting scheme for minig that's appropriatly restricted to prevent another puppetmaster from growing up. If done correctly it could even make the typical hi sec miner's career more fun by means of extension rather than replacement and give them excuse to do something else other than than becoming a carebear hate magnet. Just add it into the skill lists. It could open up some new jobs in ganking the competiton... And, we wouldn't have to listen to the company complain about not being able to deal with the issue, anymore.

And yeah, if I were running for political office I'd legalize pot too and put an end to the border killings. ;) And before you scream, I am allowed a crazy idea once in a while. It's in my contract.

That lower's every single miner's profits significantly, however.

Make mining easier, and then the market remains flooded, and the economic damage bots cause doesn't go away. The problem is more complicated than RMT.

Whether it's "We like botting so that we never have to grind," or "They bot, so we have to do it just to keep up," or "I don't want to know how our pets pay the rent, as long as they get it paid," I'd be amazed to learn that any major power wasn't funded by botting one way or another.

But those seem like solvable problems with adjustments to yield (in light of risk vs reward) on a potential sanctioned bot system. And I wouldn't call mining hard (no disrepect) as much as tedious with a five second rush if a gank squad actually happens to show. Such a system could bring new twists to the play mechanics making things more fun for miners and not just "easier." CCP have some creative staff members that could work such issues out and it might be a better alternative to the current state of play.

I don't mine, don't worry about insulting me lol.

The difficulty is in staying awake, I mean. Its "hard" because its boring and most people don't want to do it.

You have no idea about in-game economics, do you? You have no idea how this mentality will crash the in-game economy, do you? Please tell me you're just joking. Please!

If CCP were to ever introduce a legal botting mechanism, then I will make a public agreement, signed in my own blood, that I will hunt down and destroy every mining vessel throughout New Eden even at the expense of my own standings and reputation. Mind you, I'm a miner at heart. I would rather let every miner in the galaxy hate my guts and rage quit till the day I biomass rather than see CCP allow botting.

Ha, I love your opinions and they are all pretty good and respectful. But maybe a crackdown on botting would bring some more diversity to null and allow some groups to get in there and hustle for the right to be there. If you have to bot afford supers which gives them a distinct advantage in null, then perhaps that group should not be there. Mining bots really stink, but ppl botting so they can afford supers that gives them power/influence/territory is just silly. This also keeps alot of groups out of null I bet. I think a strong example made will make others think twice. If a nobody botter gets banned, no one knows. You ban that NC. corp (if they were actually botting) then people take notice and know ccp isnt ****ing around. But it isn't right that they go hotdropping left and right using supers acquired via illegal (cheating) means.

No botting is botting. If some did not use bots, then they have little to worry about. Though all illegally acquired isk should be removed from said accounts such as the case with isk sellers.

Focus increases the odds of successfully solving the problem.

Having half the anti-botting team focus on catching and banning random people means any solution would take twice as long, or longer, to lay out and implement.
