Laucher Update 1.11... Launcher+Client do not start anymore.

-Started the launcher to update to 1.11
-Launcher crashed with an error massage and asked to run repair tool (wonder why, i did not play since the last launcher update, but whatever)
-Repairtool finished
-Neither the lauche nor the client start anymore, tried from link, from the directory, as admin, as user

-Tried to run repairtool again, says everything is ok.
-Still the client and the launcher do not start

-looking at the processes while douplclicking the eve.exe eve shows up for half a sec and the process dissapears again
-logserver does not record any entries while starting eve.

So, what now? For 3,5 days i deal with problem-fixing (more acurate: trying to fix because nothing works) rather than playing...and with every FIX an new problem appears. First i could only run 2 clients instead of 5 like before he first patch, next day the launcher update resets all the setting, and with todays update the whole game does not start anymore. Three´s a Charm, i guess.

Have a nice weekend

Same story here, with the exception the repair tool crashes as well, stated in my thread.

Running win 7 64 bit.

on a side note, I had the -exact- same problem when testing the launcher on sisi. It never got solved, or responded on for that matter.

Do either of you have anything running in the background? AV, Xfire, Any fan/temp readers, Torrent programs, anything else that would use a connection/port?
If I helped you out, Technical Issue, enemy gank, popped your poor fit, hit the "Like" button.

Same story here.
So repairing and patching is "done through the laucher" now eh?
Well dam funny when it refuses to run.

Full story is that I tried to run two clients (always worked before), then my Windows got totally F*
When I finally had it running again, EVE no longer runs, despite repairing etc.

I do understand that CCP didn't create this mess on purpose, but when you again and again and again, on expansions and patches, find that all your prefs and settings are gone, that you can't have a custom window anymore, the patience becomes a bit stretched. - (and now we also can't run multiple clients anymore?Evil )What's the F* matter with you? You never heard of Object Oriented programming? I absolutely cannot imagine WHY these things don't work as usual after a patch! ...and after all these years of this! Evil

Well, that was said on the side. EVE doesn't work because that dum launcher doesn't work.
(sooo F' clever Evil )

...- And now I hear that this problem existed already on testing?!! And that it wasn't responded to, wasn't fixed, but the update was launched anyway?!!! EvilEvilEvilEvilEvilEvilEvil

and yea, yea, Win 7, 64-bit

An update, that may or may not help some.

I got going again, by a trial and error "wing it" procedure that roughly went like this:

First I 'repaired' the client. This wasn't easy and took several tries. First the repair tool exited with mysterious error message 'rename.exe' not found. Then I downloaded a new repair tool from a CCP provided link (that was prob outdated). This repair wanted to download 'a new version'. If i didn't let it, it failed. So I let it. This time it complained 'repair.exe' is running. I shut down one of the repair.exes from task manager. Don't remember what happened next. I prob had to shut both down and then restarted repair again. Repair finally successfully repaired the client.

Then I went to EVE Launcher's cache (not EVE's cache) and emptied that. Rebooted and then successfully launched the EVE-launcher. Then successfully launched EVE.

Sofar so good. But I'm pretty certain everything (including Windows) gets totally F* again, if I again try to launch a second client. So the way I see this is that CCP owes me money (not to mention a L4 mission worth of loot and salvage plus bonus reward), until this is fixed.

(And suddenly I have all my old prefs and custom settings back, and my custom window! I mean WTF? It seem I have my old graphics as well though. What was this? A sudden backtrack by CCP in files? Or the repair tool making an "obsolete" version?
Will the Launcher mess up again next time?)

Nothing except Virus Scanner (AV)

@ Creh Ester

Interesting solution, willl try this today and report back if it works for me too.

nothing but a virus scanner (G data antivirus in my case). However when I shut it down, Eve still does not respond in any way.

Edit: I got eve running again by avoiding the launcher alltogether. Eve folder > bin > run 'exefile'.

What did we need the launcher for again....?

It might be enough just to empty the Launcher cache.

Anyway, another piece of info: As I said I got all my old settings back as well. But I did this also on a different PC, a Vista64 machine, that had been running from the Launcher all the time. So this particular thing is certain to be due to CCP having either done an emergency throwback to old code segements, or actually fixed some some issues in new client code. My bet is old code.
