Unbelievable, but true. For me.

Warp in, lock targets, dispatch drones, nap, repeat.

Mining missions could be the solution Smile

Congratulations, you have managed to state an obvious fact. There is plenty of PvE content out there if you don't enjoy missions, all you have to do is look.

Some Missions can be done afk in Drone deploying ships. Glad you managed to discover that!

Roll

If you actually try to sit in front of your PC and use a decent ship and/ or fitting, you may experience, that missions are mostly still boring, but pay out way more ISK than you get at the moment.

But hey, some dynamic PvE content, where you fleet up or face diffrent kinds of NPC ships would increase the Playerbase by 100% within 6 months, for sure.
After some time, you know your Cpmplexes, Missions, Belts, Amons, Incursions and Sleeperspawns, we all know this.

Or you can stop being a slave under isk.

Be free and fly L4s in a T1 cruiser or a T1 destroyer.

Proper ship can make a mission an intriging puzzle to solve

I still don't get why one of the, if not the activity, that most EVE players use their time on haven't gotten any attention since.... Forever.

Because missions were never intended to be the end game, they're supposed to simply be a means to an end. There is a wide variety of stuff to do in Eve and missions are a small part of a small section of one piece of Eve.

So what? Doesn't mean that it doesn't have to soul sucking boring, completely static and overall very badly designed from the start.

The primary reason every casual highsec player runs them are the very same reasons they're boring. If missions were no longer solo, scripted, easily farmed and a genuinely steady source of income players would do something else for isk.

You're making the mistake of assuming that the bulk of players gravitate to the most "fun," activity available to them. In reality most of them gravitate to the easiest possible rewarding activity.

this. in lvl4s reward/risk = ∞ and reward/time >= most other activities. and by reward i obviously mean $$

If you pop a mom with so few ships that Concord doesn't even pay you, yes. Running cookie-cutter fleets and doing the same few sites in the same way over and over...it's not much more exciting than missions once you know how it all works.

L4 missions with T1 frigate swarms are amusing if you can get the people together. Exploration at least provides variety and doesn't require you to grind standings if you want a change of scenery and jump to a new empire. Wormhole PVE is just as tedious as the rest, but at least there you're having to watch for other dangers and there's the potential for PVP.

Confirming that being boring means you gravitate (I like that word so I will steal it OffBalance) towards the more mundane aspects of a FUN game.

Upon what do you base this? For some perhaps missions are the endgame. Where has CCP ever stated that PVE was merely a stage towards PVP or anything else?

CCP is too afraid to allocate resources on PVE because of all the whining it will summon from 'elite pvp'.
Or they simply don't care.

They are not more fun, and they only can pay more isk, but involve the risk of others. Others may screw up the isk/time ratio and sometimes even will make you lose a ship. L4s are far less random in this regard. Incursions with your corp at the other hand should rightfully beat L4s hands down.

Remove insurance.
