Prophecy + AutoCannon (instead of Pulse Lasers)

Hey all,

Was thinking of pulling my (T1 Meta Lvl3) Pulse Lasers off my Prophecy and puting (T1 Meta Lvl 3) 425mm AC's on there instead.

Anyone done this? Care to tell me how it went for you?

Obviously it will be better on CAP and looks like more DPS on paper, but then there is the cost of ammo and lower optimal to consider... Will the jump in tracking speed be that noticable?

Would prob be using depleted uranium for the most part.

I got same skill levels for projectiles as for lasers.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: I know the Harbinger is a better boat, but I'm a sucker for aesthetics! Love that Fat Chicken.

Yes, it's better. And no, don't use depleted uranium, use shorter optimal ammo, it's all in the falloff.

i've always loved the look of the holy space chicken as well. Auto's will work well on it, if not as well as on other boats. It supports a heavy tank, but with a lower pg active tanking it becomes a bit of an issue with mediocre skills. if using it for pvp, 'it's a trap' comes to mind to me, and pretty much everyone else out there, but so do most lone boats 'hanging' around for no good reason.

Forums 2 attempts to reply, so, we'll go with the short SHORT version.

Prophecy has crap DPS no matter what guns you put on it.

Put any guns you want on it, all are acceptable (except rails).

Do not expect to kill much/anything solo.

Have lots of isk set aside for more ammo/ships (if solo).

Not going Solo. In a small group doing level 4's which already includes 2 battleships.

Thanks for your comments anyways guys.

For missions the Absolution is what you want. It can be easily fit with tech II pulses, and even can accomodate heavy beam II and a mission tank with not too much fitting assistance. It's preferred rat type in my experience is rogue drones. The resists and damage type of the ship are tailored for them.

The only time I use a damnation for missions is one I have rigged with missile range/speed rigs. I then fit it with HAM launchers and use it for the AE lvl 4 bonus room. Sadly, I've come to the realization that that room is really not worth doing anyway, since there is no faction loot drop apparently.

The Damnation is a fleet booster. A fleet booster that can be fit to sit in the battle and be pretty much guaranteed to be last primaried, because its ehp is that good. Of course, if your gang is vastly outnumbered or a titan/supercarrier blob drops on you (which can happen all too often these days in the game) the aforementioned tank will matter for naught : (

edit- as to the prophecy itself, yes, definitely fit it with ac or 650 arty. Why bother with cap issues, and restricted damage type, if you will get no damage or range bonus. The projectile prophecy can serve as a gurista or angel amarr option for level 3s as well. However, if you are going to do those regularly, cross-train any of the other races.

Any Amarr ship without a damage or ROF bonus is better off with projectiles.

I put 6 x 425mm AC's on the bird last night and went into a couple of lvl 4's.

Much better setup. With the extra CAP i had (damn those hungry lasers!) I managed to be able to run a 2nd Armor Rep.

Fair enough, i was part of a small gang - but even with plenty of agro - this tanked just fine. Much better than previous setups even with much lower resistances. Obviously a drop in optimal, but up close them AC's rip a strip. Was never all that sold on those pulses and the cap drainage made me sick!

Yeah - I figure the Absolution is a much better (combat) bird than the Damnation, but it looks so cool in black & blue! Plus, I do plan on using 3 Armored Warfare links i.e. using the ship as a command ship, and the rest of the gang will be whooping arse.

No PvP! Only PvE for now. Got other pies in the oven for PvP.

Greetings

BUT

It always makes me cry when people show no respect for my races ships by sticking on nasty weapons not suited.

Be well

Stop flying Proph, it's not good for anything pve. PvP it is used as bait. Only noobs that see the "shiny" fly the Proph.

Stop putting AC on a unbonused slow boat.

Train cap skills (this is what you get when you chose to crosstrain into projectiles before getting the core skills ) and learn to manage cap and use Imperial lenses while waiting for t2. Switch lenses to keep up your optimal.

Get into a Apoc.

Don't even talk about flying command ships until you know how to fit/fly a amarr BC.

As I said - already doing level 4's without too much of a problem. That sounds like PvE to me. I maybe a noob, but I fly what I actually like - not what is in-fashion. Must be great fun only flying what the community has chosen for you.

My CAP skills are fairly well trained as it goes - I didn't switch because I had a CAP problem per-se, but I knew I could squeeze more out of other areas if not for CAP draining weapons.

No weapons are bonused on a prophecy - so your advice states I should fly round with weapons on it. Great.

Don't like the Apoc. I will NEVER fly it.

And I will TALK about flying what the hell I like thank you. I don't need to seek your blessing for that one - or should I wait till you think I'm a big enough boy eh?

Take a leaf out of other helpful posters book why don't you and give me advice (not condescension).

Good for you mate, fly what you like and to hell with everyone else. I personally like Maelstroms and with Arties its just satisfying to watch some stuff insta-pop. If you are flying with friends then its worth trying to find the rats that they can't kill as easily as some of the others and kill them. I used to help a friend do missions in a Caracal (I'd wait till he had full aggro and then warp in) and kill all the frigates with AML's. Probably could have used something better and done the missions faster but this was more fun.

Damnations are awesome command ships and if you have a few of you doing missions they can really help by letting your gang mates drop a hardener in some cases and add an extra BCU or Heat Sink. Or just simply be the tank (I used to do it in a Vulture) and your mates go in glass cannons.

However, I only kept this up for a short period of time cos it bored the living crap out of me after a couple of dozen missions and I went back to mining...

This is so true, only bar a few exceptions like the apoc
