Question about Character names

Ive got a friend who plays who is about 30 million SP in. His only concern is that he chose a name that is so unpronouncable that even the Dutch would have problems with it. He has resorted to just telling people his real name on vent as its easier.


Is there any way he can change his name as he has considered starting a new toon.

New toon's the only way.

Your only other option to creating a new toon is to find and buy one in the character bazaar. Best of luck.

Just use a nickname?

For example, if I had a name like lkfjuilkj;kl;jeir, I would simply go by LK. Not the best solution but it works. Or he can continue using his real name, or is that embarrassing or too personal or something?

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

I'd still take a stab at raising a petition and explaining it nicely to CCP. They are not completely heartless and you may get somebody that understands the scenario.

of course one of the issues here is CCP frowns on letting people get away with murder and then letting them hide behind a veil of anonymity.

case in point
say your friend is a corp thief, suddenly he's no longer able to be punished by his angry victims
or say he's a well known cyno alt or cap pilot, the name change gives him a tactical advantage
perhaps he's just a prat and people want to kill or wardec him on sight, again he evades the communal nature of eve

this is why its unlikely he'll get any help
nevermind the fact that most people when talking in public about the problems of "friends" are actually referring to themselves

it's pandora's box

however, since I posted this, you can expect a DEV will come in shortly and tell you "no prob, just have your friend send in a petition"

The sad truth is: You just have to make your grievances public and have a lot of twitter followers, or facebook friends, if you want them addressed and actually solved.

fake petition it from another accountant, say that name is very offensive in Swahili and you are appalled.
