Eve client uses the keyboard. WoW client uses the keyboard. Eve is lame WoW clone!

However, at least CCP include options to:

1) Only display launcher if a patch is available

2) Automatically close launcher once client is launched.

Ok, while the latter is really odd to have as an option as it should be the default functionality, at least the former is good.

AFAIK, you can open multiple client instances from the same launcher. So you could use it for that, or if you wanted to read a newspost while the client is loading

Incidentally, World of Tanks also has a launcher that's fairly similar (read: it's also a launcher) to the EVE launcher.

Who cares if it looks like windows launcher, wow launcher, my grandmother or whatever, what matters is if it's good/usefull do it, and do it good, why reinvent the wheel, why be diferent just to be inconformist when it's a hindrace.

Launcher isn't quite the word for it. When it loads your EVE client for the first time, you still need to get a patch.

More like an annoying step you need to turn off after the first time you use it.

It's not just a WoW launcher, other MMOs use it too, it's a fairly standard type.
