Cyrillic characters in the EVE install path name cause the EVE Launcher to throw an error and not continue with patching the client. We are working hard on resolving this issue and will publish an update with instructions once it is out.

There is currently a workaround that people can use in the meantime:

A) Move the EVE client to a folder which does not contain any Cyrillic characters in the path name.

B) Start the repair tool and let it run, go into the client folders bin directory and start ExeFile.exe.

Quote:
As of 01:40 GMT (14th March) we released a new Launcher and a new repair tool to resolve some issues that players have been experiencing during the initial deployment of Crucible 1.5.

Those of you experiencing issues with the Launcher or updating the game, please follow these steps:

1. Reboot the computer.
2. Navigate to the EVE client install folder.
3. Close your browser.
4. Run the Repair tool until it finshes.
5. Run eve.exe from the same folder.

We ask people to reboot their computer to make sure that there are no locked files or other processes running while running the repair tool. This would otherwise interfere with the repair tool and prevent the client from updating.

Please let us know if this resolves the issues you are experiencing.

If it helps any, I was getting all the problems with the patch not working and the repair tool failing as well but found a fix it seems.

My Eve client was in the Program Files (x86) directory so I moved the whole folder to a root folder on another disk and ran the repair tool again - all now seems good! I suspect I could have just put it in a root folder on the C drive as well.

Perhaps this is related to the (x86) thing being 64 bit Windows ?

I hope this helps someone else get out of the annoying hole that I was in Smile

P.S. Don't forget to copy the complete folder back to the original location, otherwise all your settings will vanish ! Oops

Like Dalcho, I can't get past the splash screen on a Mac either.
My Launcher is version 1.04 and doesn't update itself.

Hey after 1.5.1 update I cannot play eve

After patching i keep getting 'The update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin. Press 'OK' to continue.' message.
When i click OK patcher process starts, patches the client, launches the launcher. When i click play I get 'The update has been downloaded...' message message and so on.
Tried launching exefile directly - no effect.
Tried using repair tool - no effect.
Tried deleting eve.exe and exefile.exe and then using repair tool - no effect.

EDIT: the same on second computer WTF CCP?
Did I mention that everytime this happens the launcher settings are reset?
I just hope my boot.ini file is safe...

So, my launcher worked fine yesterday, but I can't even get the launcher to appear at all today. Thanks CCP...

It would seem I can launch the .exe from the bin folder, but I'm just worried it's going to completely bork my install after I get this patch

EDIT: If you can't get your launcher to work, go to you install's bin file and run the .exe there as the one in the top of the install directory no longer works, nor does using the launcher .exe's. It will start the client as it was before 1.5 patch and then redownload the launcher for you and patch from there. While you have the launcher open, edit the settings so it only appears when you need to update and that should fix that kind of problem for now :)

I had a similar problem:

- My EVE Client downloaded the update and during installation I got the popup "errors occurred"
- I tried to patch manually, it downloaded stuff for a while, finished and when I clicked close it said "errors occurred" again.
- I ran repair.exe, that downloaded stuff and said "errors occurred"
- I then moved my entire EVE folder elsewhere, and then I ran repair.exe again. Again it started to download things, and then I got more errors.

From now on, whatever I try to do I get a "Verification Failure" popup reading:

"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client. File not found: E:\Games\EVE Online\bin\_PyFreeTypeP.dll"

I have tried downloading the installer again, but when it ran it said "An unknown error occured while downloading the installer payload." So I downloaded the payload manually. Which also didn't work, because at 99.9% of the download it just stopped and said "cancelled".

I'm at a complete loss of what to do, and I don't seem to be able to reinstall/play in ANY way now :(

Marty

EDIT: Fixed it!

For people with my issue, do this:

Create a shortcut to Repair.exe on your desktop. Run it with the "--buildno=344784" commandline. (note: use two dashes -- there, also leave out the quotes). After this, run repair.exe from the shortcut -> it should now restore your client to the previous TQ version.
When it is done, remove the shortcut and launch the EVE client as per normal. It should start patching and it should run the launcher automatically afterwards.
