64bit Win7 + Launcher Issues

Ok, so after the patch i attempted to do the following:

Launch my client and let it do whatever it wanted to do to update itself, this ended up in my game files becoming corrupt. I ran the repair tool and this worsened the problem.

I just downloaded a fresh copy of the client from the EVE Website and installed it. After attempting to launch the game i am met with the following error:

"The program or feature "\??\C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available."

I cannot launch the Launcher.exe either it says it is not compatible with 64bit windows.


Running the repair tool on a fresh UNTOUCHED install produces this error after i try to close it when it tells me the repair was successful:

An error occurred

See the logfile 'C:\Users\XXXX\Appdata\Local\Temp\nsgDA2F.tmp\repair.exe.log' for details

Before reinstalling i attempted to delete some essential files from my EvE directory and run the repair tool, the repair tool reported as being successful yet the files i deleted were not replaced.

Works fine here on 7 x64 and 8 x64.

No issues, smooth as a new born's oiled bottom.

Good question. I have not done anything out of the ordinary and i am not a ****** when it comes to computers.

Im old school so anything that my current win 7 screws up on I wouldnt know how to hammer it right.

Working fine on my laptop today. Don't like it, but it works fine.

Try run it by using compatibility mode.

Right click the .exe , select Properties from the menu.

Select the Compatibility tab

In there, you can try run it as if it was running under xp etc.
Make sure you check the "run as administrator" checkbox further down the page.


It will probably not work, but, no harm in trying ^^

Did you try the troubleshoot compatibility thing? Right click on the launcher.exe? I have the same OS and not having any problems.

Got exactly the same problem here, incompatible with 64bit message.

Fixed by launching the exe file in the BIN folder in EVE mail folder.
online now...

I'm running Windows 7 64 Ultimate and I have no problems.

Win 7 64-bit here as well with no issues.

Logged in as a user that is a member of the local Administrators group.

Deleted my cache folders completely before patching (standard procedure for me).

Windows 7 has some hard restrictions to some folders (like Program Files) that cause all kinds of problems unless you are logged in as a user that is a member of the local Administrators group.

I dunno what else to suggest but I know it's not an issue with Windows 7 64-bit itself.

If you have windows firewall on sometiems that causes issues with launching eve online for whatever reason.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Although I dont know how to fix this (other than maybe trying to run the launcher in admin mode which causes me no end of agrro with alot of programmes)

This is the correct approach to have about the launcher not working

I have the boxes checked to only show the launcher if there is a patch and it still shows every time on my Windows 7 64 bit Professional laptop.
