Is there any way you could modify your code to make it possible to choose where we place the datafiles for Eve... You are writing stuff for c: and I don't want it on there - I have a drive for Eve and that's where I want it!!
That means ALL of it, Eve temp, cache and binaries

I agree 100%.

This has been complained about for quite awhile.

So I run the brand new launcher, and where does it show it putting its files? C:

You made a NEW launcher and still couldn't bother to change this?

The release of the Launcher today is the first step in this direction, you will see a lot of improvements to it soon.

On a windows machine, if you really want to, you can change the locations of %USERPROFILE% and %LOCALAPPDATA% (in the registry) to a location of your choosing. Probably creates more problems than it solves, but that's the quick fix.

No, the quick (and effective) fix is to move your CCP/EVE folders and then creating symbolic links pointing to the new locations. Look on these forums, I've explained it more than once now step by step. :)

Sadly, that breaks stuff, I've done it before.

For example Silverlight. I love my Netflix streaming.

Google on "move windows users dir". It might be overkill for your purposes. Otherwise go with junctions/sym-links as per Aethlyn.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Liked, not empty quoted, plus oned and very much THIS!.

Once upon a time eve actually did this (all eve stuff in one place) but then they went and ruined it. It's time to unruin it, the sooner the better.

you can also update the path %TEMP% (IIIRC) to change it off the boot drive.

R. Click "My Computer"
Advanced Tab
Environment Variables
TEMP (default is %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp --> i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\Jumfat Kohlah\Local Settings\Temp)
TMP (default is also %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp)

There are also the system variables you can change (but I'm not 100% sure what this might break).
TMP/TEMP (default is C:\Windows\TEMP)

So, you can change from %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp to something like [Storage_Drive_Letter]:\TEMP

Note that certain things (cache, logs, etc) are dumped into your My Docs folder, and I don't know if there's a way to tweak that without registry hacking ... and that can break loads of things.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Vel
This I have done already, so thank you for your input.

However I should not NEED to do this if the manufacturers (CCP) remembered this small feature in this last patch. I cannot understand why this was overlooked AGAIN

Not sure if this is relevent

But i move around a lot and i dont use laptops. my safe houses or sometimes compromised and i travel around the world on fake passports conducting business and evading my enemies.

Due to this i keep EVE on a fob that i can just plug into any computer so that i can update skills and play a bit. i just recopy the game back onto the C drive when i have an update coming in.

hope that helps

Edit. first part is horseshit but im sure that you already guessed that :)
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.
