Ship reimbursement?

Has anyone had luck getting their ship loss reimbursed after a disconnect from the server?

Basically I was in a mission and after warping into a new pocket I was unable to turn on any of my modules, my ship was still moving, then suddenly my entire screen turned white, and my client crashed, a window poped up saying that I had lost connection.

By the time I logged back on I was in a pod....

has this happened to anyone else? Have you had luck getting your everything back?

By all means petition it but very few reimbursement petitions end in favour of the player.

Be aware also they take a long time, weeks sometimes so get a new boat and carry on assuming you'll get nothing and consider anything a bonus! Also, anything that was in loot, ie survived the explosion, will NOT be replaced so I hope you got your can!

I bought a replacement and my insurance covered some of the loss, still I would much rather not lose a ship due to a game error....

yeah I grabbed the loot and salvaged my wreck too.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone ever got a ship reimbursed from eve crashing.

I had a kind of similar issue some months ago. The incoming DPS got a bit insane so I decided to warp out except my ship just sat there saying warping... warping... warping... meanwhile the tank rapidly melted and the ship went boom. I was pre-aligned and obviously wasn't warp scrambled/neuted. It should've easily gotten out but it just sat there like a lump. Decided it may be worth a petition as I had no idea if it was a problem with the server or my isp or somewhere in between. DIdn't get my ship back however so unless the GM finds a problem with the node at the time I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I have gotten ships back before, the same one about three times, but it was due to a bug and was verifiable in the logs.

Yeeee!

I have only once in a mission. I opened up the damage logs to show the GMs that from the point of getting shot at to the point of dying I had more than enough time to warp out and the ship simply did not respond resulting in my death. Got it all back but it took a few days. Game logs are your friend in these situations simply because they will not only show your DPS msgs but also your ship commands in them. If you have a ship that will align and warp in say 6 secs and you hit warp and the ship destruction msg was later than 6 seconds you win the Eve ship reimbursement prize. That is considering there arent external forces stopping you from warping....but again these will show, or not show, in the logs.

All game logs are stored on your computer. Enjoy.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Yeah that's what I thought I'm SOL...

I was not trying to warp out and my shield were above 70%. , however when I clicked to activate my hardners nothing happened, then my screen went white and the client crashed. After I logged back in I was in a pretty pod...

tried this once and the gm told me only server logs count, they couldnt careless about the logs i had that showed i hit warp and sat there for 30sec not warping while not being scrammed after prealigning. was the last time i set a petition asking for a ship back, not worth the effort and rage.

OMG when can i get a pic here

Logs Show Nothin'.

It just shows you disconnecting from the server - for all CCP knows you tried to puss-out by closing the client. Even if thats not the case, theres no way to tell.

If you can prove it was a bug somehow, you'll have a chance at reimbursement. but simple disconnects/client-crashes? Never.

If the server crashed... theres still only a SLIM chance. My old alliance once jumped into a system who's node was dying. The system never loaded for any of us, but the gang waiting there had no problem seeing us trickle in all disconnected. They slowly ganked us in massive lag and when we were finally able to reconnect and file a petition, CCP denied it all.

"War declarations are never officially considered griefing and are not a bannable offense, and it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature." - CCP

I never was in the petition to ask my ship back after an NPC lost but I know quite a few players who got them back, years ago. No reason not to try. As long as you never ask a GM a question that would require knowledge of the game they are actually quite decent.

you wont get it back and it will take them four weeks to tell you that. server wide crashes its a maybe but never ever for disconnects

they probably get off reading tears then waiting weeks to copy paste you get nothing. gms are the best eve players

I understand that and I was flying a ship that was insured and I can replace it, so oh well I guess the lesson here is don't try to save your cap between gate jumps, always have them on just in case your client crashes and try to log in as fast as you can.

I actually had trouble restarting the client it took about 2 minutes to get back into the game and it was too late.

One suggestion I suppose is to always clear your cache between updates. I find that my client is more stable when my cache is clean. Anyone else notice this?

never had a problem getting a ship reimbursed after a client crash or other stupid server things. but as everyone else has said try it as its not going to cost really.

if you get the ship back you have a nice backup, or you could sell it.

I will add that it can take a while, I once had a case investigated take about 2-3 months!

Sorry but file “forumsig.GIF” is currently unavailable please come back later…… like in a year or so.

got a set of implants back once cause pod refused to warp out or respond to any input.

I Showed them the logs I had and they could confirm the case. In my case my pod did not respond to any commands and died. The killmails (and also logs) showed a 6 minute delay between the destruction of my ship and the destruction from my pod.

No. This is a thread about getting reimbursed when you get disconnected from the server. By the looks of it, he did.
