Autopilot system sec status limit

Right now, we can only choose to stay in hisec or lowsec when calculating routes through the autopilot. But that's just not enough. When my sec status goes below -3 and I want to travel to some system, I have to manually avoid those systems on my route that have a sec status above 0.8. It's a huge PITA.

What I propose: in the Settings tab of the World Map Control Panel, have the following:
* two sliders representing the lower and upper limit of the sec status that the systems on route should have, ranging from 0 to 1 (can possibly start from -1, thus using the recently added real sec status)
* remove the Security penalty slider; it's confusing and has little to no effect on the route being calculated.

Now when I'm not allowed in 0.8 and above anymore and want to travel to the nearest incursion, I just have to move that upper limit slider to 0.7, set destination and voila. Of course, if a route cannot be calculated with that limit, then c'est la vie.

The current way for me to make my way to a destination and try to avoid those systems where I can get shot by the police is to use autopilot to set my route, than manually scan each system and check if it's over my sec limit and add it to the avoidance list if needed. A lot of effort doing that. And when my sec improves and I no longer need to do this, I forget to remove those systems from the list so whenever I use autopilot my route is insanely long.

Some of you will think that this makes it easier for noobs to avoid autopiloting their freighter in lowsec. No, there's already a setting that does that: the keep safe option. It's the same thing as saying stay in [0.5, 1], just more transparent. All I'm asking is for finer tuning of those 2 options.

Please CCP?

it doesn't affect me, but I can definitely see the use of this and don't see much reason it shouldn't be implemented. with the mapping system already laid out, I don't see it being a massive task to implement.
it would be better of they could have a min/max system so you can say I don't want to go into .9 or higher and I don't want to go into .4 or lower.

I wouldn't be strictly opposed to such a system, but I would prefer to see it added as an "advanced" option in the menu, which should help keep newbies that don't know better from making a mistake.

I would also like it to be very clear about if it's an inclusive or exclusive limit (if you've taken math classes, you'll know that the difference between (0.4,1.0) and [0.4,1.0] is quite severe).

Its necessary, but not only that.

If I join the FW, I must be able to set AP route to avoid opposing factions completely.
I should be able to make the list of systems and entities and sec status and regions to avoid completely if I choose so, so I can put in my avoidance particular systems, or entities such as entire empires in FW, and region or constellation and on top of that avoiding 0.4 and below if I chose so.

The sliders should respond to the existing 2 settings, keep safe or prefer less safe. If you chose either one, the sliders should change correspondingly (e.g. you chose to keep it in hisesc, the lower limit should set itself to 0.5 and the upper limit to 1.0). That should keep curious people from shooting themselves in the foot.

Quite true, the labels on the sliders should be very explicit.

Might be a bit more complicated but I definetly see it being useful to anyone who is into FW. Maybe a setting something like Avoid systems with entities towards which you have negative standings. This could include FW parties or factions towards which you have negative standings (-5 or below) from doing missions.

All of this would prove very useful to anyone who knows what sec status is and what it means.

Yeah, this does happen a lot to any good thread on this forum (and has been happening to my thread this week too). The problem is that when an idea is too good and everyone knows that it would be great, no one feels the need to argue about it, they just agree with the thread and move on.

I can put your idea in my friend's thread if you want: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=67702&find=unread

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Friend or alt?

And I spamming that in every single thread on the forum doesn't really help anything (besides the fact that there's already a Thousand Papercuts thread).

myeah, too bad that people don't realize that without a bump the thread will get lost in the hundreds of pages and CCP might not see the idea. So please folks, if you like the idea, a +1 or a highfive or even a "your idea stinks" to keep it on the first pages would help so much.

While I appreciate your help, having the idea in multiple threads would not help in it gaining votes and opinions.

I don't see a reason why this should not be implemented. More options can't hurt.

+1,

This would go great with the theme of UI improvement going on currently.

Let me avoid all systems above X.x and below Y.y.
