"Players will be able to fly as a fighter-bomber wing, and will be able to control up to 5 fighter-bombers depending on skill level"

That's one way to solve super cap proliferation, player suicide FB wings. We should mutiny over this...

wow I can't believe how overpowered that's going to be. The supporting dev blog explains their reasoning here:

I know it's nuts. We should really talk to the CSM about this

Interesting decision but if we want this to succeed we need to change the scope on the topic of this conversion to reflect a more appealing atmosphere.

I've been idea napped... sort of.

Except I wanted to see carriers have a role in DUST combat just as Dreads do with planetary bombardment... via launching fighters under DUST player control to provide close air support.

The links don't work anymore, but if we get fighter bombers I'm so flying one, if they overpower capitals then its all good, it'll force players to use skill and tactics more rather than "DERP I GOT TECH 2 I WIN" gameplay.

I'd rather terrorize DUST players with 20 nyx bonused fighter bombers.

I am sure we will find plenty of ways to terrorize them.

Which they will be well aware of when they purchase their new 100mil ISK Giant Secure Container Mobile Command Center.

Or providing "transport services"

i.e. leaving them in a jetcan in a dead-end system in Venal

0/10.

(Although directly-piloted FBs would be very cool.)

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

Then I'd drop the jetcan at a gas giant.

"OK men, I have a mission for you. You will be dropped in to a hot zone in the next system over. There has been a lot of pirate activity in the area, so be aware that things could get hot very fast."

Then the player starts Recon 3-3 and drops them off in the middle of the mission.

The metric ton of safe guards they will need to stop us from being phenomenal dicks to these people is going to be massive...

The that follows all the ways we found to subvert and bypass the rules or come up with new ways to wreck them will however be about twice as long. The biggest War they will fight in will be finding EVE Players who will let them play.

Their General Discussion will be the #%$@ EVE Forum and all their complaints will be trolled by EVE Players who have Dust accounts.

Fun Times ahead.

I've been dreaming about this since i joined Eve: a small ship or even a drone, that can be navigated manually, with a joystick or simple WASD+mouse control. This would significantly increase the space combat feeling and immersion *starts dreaming of old wingcommander dogfight space combat days*. Too bad it won't happen in Eve...
