Take a look: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gdc-2012-dust-514/727867

Perhaps the persistence gameplay will provide a fulfilling experience but i don't think the game looks good graphically/mechanically... I mean, life bars over your enemy's head allowing you to see where they are all all times?! It doesn't look like a modern shooter to me.

Edit [23/03/2012] - Following the Dust 514 keynote, i'll admit that i was wrong. The updated textures/graphics we saw in the video yesterday look much better than the video above... However, i'd change the following:

1. Remove the life bars from above an enemy's head - having this destroys stealth gamplay an clutters up the screen. It's only acceptable if you fit some kind of scanner to your suit so detect enemy health.

2. Add a third person camera - i'm sure this won't happen but i would prefer to play the game in third person.

3. Don't allow mouse and keyboard support on the PS3 - That would be really dumb.

Kinds defeats the point of being stealthy doesn't it? But you're right, Unless that footage is from an old build, Dust doesn't look all that good (the graphics at least).

Personally I hated the Looking Down Sights thing they showed (It doesn't look right at all), but I do like the HUD, so its not all bad P.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

It also looks quite... clean in some way. I expected more a gritty environement, realism.

I also don't get why the heavy Amarr dropsuit has a dress.

The one thing I did get though was that dusters can ask for airsupport by contract. This is interesting because it makes it seem as if contracts can go both ways. Dusts bunnies get hired by eggers for ground attack and eggers by dust bunnies for orbital strikes. (they also mention "a missile")

The interface indeed seems strangely 2D, I'd expected more of a holograpic, curved, 3d look for the interface inside your helmet not a standard 2d paste on image. (same can be said of the current EVE interface but that is 8 years old)

I'd assumed that those sounds where only templates since it is still in production.

I spy with my little eye a rapid fire missile lancher 2:49.

I sure hope so, I guess we'll find out at Fanfest, CCP is hopefully going to make that version as shiny and awesome as they possibly can.

My only gripe so far are the health bars...but even they dont seem to detract from the game too much (due to how fast paced the action is)...

Apart from that though, and mayby a few of the sounds (although, as mentioned, they could be templates, as well as mayby how it was recorded etc), it's looking good so far Smile. Will be interesting to see what loadouts may be used or 'preferred', due to the customisation making balancing quite difficult with a personal skill based game Lol

Your showing high-def character details but the ingame engine and the interface looks so damn CHEAP. What a disappointment... and ahahaha on hillmar saying the game will "Probably" have thousands of players

Beta invites going out in April is what I got out of that interview. I can't wait! BTW, I recently purchased a PS3 and its mothballed till this game comes out. Will any USB keyboard and mouse work on it?

I have to say...the health bars are a bit of a dissapointment. I am not worried about graphics. CCP has stated that DUST will be just as upgradeable as EvE when the PS4 comes out or if it gets moved to the PC. Also...still in Beta. That stuff will all change...but for the love of God...remove the health bars...please don't leave those in there on release. There is no reason to have them. Either the guy you are shooting at is still alive or he is dead. That is all I need to know. This is not EvE.

So it I'm guessing it is indeed old footage as ccp says it is when they linked the video.

Sorry but file “forumsig.GIF” is currently unavailable please come back later…… like in a year or so.

Oh thank you Hilmar, now we just have to wait 'till Fanfest to see what Dust really looks like

I had high hopes for dust but if these ******* Health bars stay in and screw over ever stealth/sniper out there its not worth the money.

and DONT you even think about showing name plates when you look at someone that's further than 5m away from you.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

I agree. It's one thing to see internet spaceships have life bars on them (ship scanner much?) but it's not a pleasant thing to see in a first-person shooter when all you care about is making the enemy die in the heat of a moment where you have absolutely no time at all to assess the damage of your target other than whether or not they are still standing.

Other than that, I like the gameplay. I can see some Call of Duty fans and maybe some Halo fans occasionally visiting this game. After all, it's FTP and the ground battles will have an impact on our Eve Online economy.
