How is EWAR affected by Falloff?

Does anyone quite know how an ewars Optimal and Falloff affects the outcome of applying Damps, Tracking Disruption, ECM?

Looked around and couldn't find a good answer.

It's a chance to hit modifier -- which is to say, it is not a declining effect modifier. EWAR in falloff still either works or doesn't, but its chance of working is modified by the same chance to hit formula that turrets in falloff are.

Well, it's not very well documented. Also emphasizes the short range of a lot of ewar that should probably be better at longer range.

Thanks for the answer. If anyone else can confirm from practical use. I can't say I've ever really seen this in action.

I have and i fly ECM a lot. At long range(like over 90k for me Big smile) your chance will drop off, its more pronunced on hulls that bonuse less than 30%per level(griffons and the like).

I wanted to paint my space ship red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

I'd always wondered how it works with target painters and TD's. Not sure anyone's ever tested it or not.

not shure, but ive never had a target painter "miss" and i use missles so the dps shift is notisable, tho it may decress the % amunt that it boost the sig buy. You would have to play around with it on the test server to be shure.

TPs have a long optimal and the falloff decline isn't that steep. But it has been tested and it's an I/O to the effects not a decline in effectiveness. See here for instance:

Money quote in case you don't want to skim for it:

Note that we actually went out and tested this. Most players will say that the painter effect reduces with range, where it's actually the chance to hit that reduces. The effect is either on or off and as specified on the module.

I just learned something new, thanks guys :3
This explains why EFT cant calculate TPs in falloff range.

or, in simpler words:

since the maximum range of ewar mods, like turrets is optimal+2x falloff, in an example of ewar mods at optimal+25% falloff, the "hit" chance is reduced to 87.5%~. at 50% falloff, the chance is reduced to 75%~, and once you hit 1x falloff, you have 50%~ chances. note that it's not "exactly" 75% or 50%, due to several factors and the fact that at 2x falloff your hit chance is actually about 3%.
