Can we have the date on the clock back? Thanks.

While looking at time and date - May I suggest helping my lazy us timezone online friends creating a time translation option?
Through the last 6 years I had countless (mostly) americans not being able to convert Eve Time to their own time.

Then changing it (i.e. making it possible to show local time) would confuse these people even more? Right now you can just log in and see, e.g. "Oh, it's 11 am EVE time, so 1 pm will be in 2 hours".

Posting as directed from here because I too would like to have my date back. It's really annoying to have to click and check every time I have a brain fart. Or hell, have a hover-over tooltip.

Please let players decide what info they wish to take up screen space, by making date display optional.

The CCP responses are not acceptable.

Give us the option to display it as any or all of the following:

- EVE Day of Week (localized using the short abbreviation such as Mon/Tue/Wed, default to OFF)
- EVE Date (default to ON)
- EVE Time (default to ON)
- Local Time (default to OFF)

The defaults for the date area should match how it's been for the last few years.

We intentionally removed the date. It was initially added to draw attention to the fact that clicking that area would open up the calendar rather than due to anyone feeling that displaying the current date in such a prominent place was necessary. Now, with the new Neocom, the calendar has it's own button making it easily accessible, and the current date is clearly displayed within that window. We don't remove things like these because we're evil, but rather because we don't feel that the information being displayed is important enough to justify taking up valuable screen space.

Please bring the date back.

As others have said, you've made this beautiful new CUSTOMIZABLE neocom, but we can't customize a feature that we used to have that was incredibly useful - especially when players may be on a different local date than the current Eve date.

The information is VERY important.

Please bring the date back. Or give us the option to turn it on or off. Or, since you point out that the calendar now has its own button, make the date show up on the button.

It's just plain silly to have to open up the calendar directly to see what the date is when it used to be wonderfully, clearly displayed before.

Please bring the date back.

fair enough, now make the calendar show up instantly instead wait 1-2 sec before the calendar finally show up. not even mentioning the double click due your not sure u pressed it properly and close in a blink again.
if not, for the love of god, date @ time(popup) tyvm

Please bring the date back.
Anything that makes it easier for players to deal with timezone differences should be of importance to CCP.

Adding another voice.

Please bring the date back. Having that info on the screen has always been very helpful and TBH it doesn't take up a lot of screen real estate.

Lets keep this thread going until we get another official response.

It has all been said, and I agree:

Please return EVE date to the calendar button.

Our corp has 7 people in it. 7 people representing 7 different timezones from California to Australia.

We use Eve time to simplify communications. With Eve time comes Eve date. Our wormhole is very "sig" active. Time and date is our life blood and it is frequently that someone in the corp logs off before the next one logs on. Therefore we date everything we do.

If that explanation does not make more sense to the contrary of CCPs ****** up explanation then I am barking at doves. Then again, we all know CCP do not play Eve. Looking at the thing, how could they?

Out of 7 people I hear, "where's the ******* date?" 30 times a day.

CCP Optimal is going to add the date to the tool tip when the mouse is hovered over the time. A work item has been created.

15 minutes of work maybe - but to make sure it doesn't break anything (like perhaps the entire calendar) it's a good idea to test ot for 15 days...

Removing the date however reminds me of CCP removing the "pinned windows" feature because "nobody used it" hehe.
Well - Thank you for being innovative and getting lots of things done - But expect some judgement errors when you have people working hard like this. I think it's great, but plz be prepared to react if it turns out to have unforeseen consequences.

Thx for getting the date back :-)

If you're going to futz with the item, then you should add the day-of-month value back to the clock. Not just add some tooltip which will be just as annoying to use as the current "open the calendar" workaround.

Why can't we have the date back like it was? It worked fine for years and now with all the customisation of the Neocom you are purposely taking away functionality? /boggle

this is cool....

except....

what about your players on old rigs that hesitate when multiple windows are open.... like... market, contracts, assets, etc.... and then i need to check today's date really quick... so mow i have to open yet another window... when before I could just glance in the corner...

So, i open the calendar to see the date and...oh .....wait....its locked up....too much at once.....

good job supporting old rigs ccp!

Got to love CCP, ask them for one thing and they give you the slight different "because you asked for 2 and we're going to give you 1 3/4 cause we think its better" routine...

at least we get something!

But this space is useless since all the buttons on neocon are aligned to top and very rarely you have so much buttons that they would not fit with the date displayed.

Maybe allow players to decide themselves what information is important for them and if the space taken by it is justified or not - make an option to display date or not.

Tool-tip IMO is not a good alternative since it requires action of moving a mouse over the time instead of just looking.
