Hi everyone,

Flying Amarr ships is what I do, and I love it.

However, changing crystals has become a very annoying process.

Here is the scenario:
- you're using faction / t2 ammo
- you change crystals to "Scorch (used)"
- the game loads one used crystal and the rest of the turrets are filled with new crystals, leaving the other used crystals in cargo

Is there a way to avoid it? Dragging ammo all the time is very annoying, and the only option would be to have several extra used crystals in cargo, which then again is NOT the optimal situation.

Lets assume you have 6 turrets. You leave station with 12 used crystals, because you want some spares right? You could find yourself without crystals for the turret group because all the 12 crystals were almost broken. While on the other hand, if the game properly loaded the used crystals, you could leave station with 6 used and a stack of 6 new crystals knowing that you would be fine.

So, how do you folks work with that? Is thre a hidden secret or that is just badly coded?

Keep the new ones in a small container i guess. Or manually load the ones you want to use first.

the only workaround for this i found, is to put all crystalls, you dont want used yet, into a container.
this has its own purposes with putting the extra 2-3 clicks (and realizing first) to move one crystall into your cargo.
on small ships its also a problem with the containersize

You fly with a spare set of the same crystal?

I just trash or reprocess them when they hit 90-95% damage and take a fresh set out.

I just die before they hit 100% damage. This tactic has never failed me.

How do you see the dmg?

Granted, you have to be undocked, but just hover over the crystal in the gun and hey presto, damage taken (as a percent).

Also, available in the fitting window by the Show Info window on the charge, again, only works when undocked.

CCP really should add in a damage accrued amount to crystals that are "used" that works when docked.

Why not just give them an ammo score like regular weapons.

I know that the damage is sometime random but it would function in the same way as a damage indicator

Hahaha, you guys are funny.

I consume a set of crystals every 10 days or so with tachyons...

However... running a Legion with Pulses... they go **pop** in less than 2 days...

What really annoys me is having that huge list of crystals which makes finding anything in your cargo a nightmare. Then you need to stop, stretch your cargo window so you can actually find the other items you want, then stretch back to the normal size you're used to.

It is clear that when CCP grouped guns they absolutely didn't think about the crystal breaking problem because "Crystals don't break so often..." yeah... right... =)

Buzzmong, thank you. I've tried to find the freaking damage all over but I never did so undocked for the simple reason that I was in station trying to find if I should restock or not... **eyes rolling** =D I would have never found that on my own.

Please bring it up to the Devs, it is annoying.
I did see a thread asking for suggestions for UI improvements, please post there.

Just use a small container as others already suggested, keep your spares in there. Problem solved.

Pretty sure there is an issue with using the small container method. I think it stops you from storing the ships inside a SMA/Carrier.... Or something like that?
I could be getting mixed up with something else mind.

No, problem duct-taped. Lasers are supposed to be at an advantage when it comes to (switching) ammo.

You are right, only ammo, scripts & cap boosters are allowed in cargohold if you want to move it in a carrier.

One other benefit of the container method. More cargo space! (ok, 20m3 more.)
