Im a vet (probably not so bitter) but lost alot of interest in the game there just isnt anything outstandingly new to keep me intereseted (been there done that after 7 years) All that keeps me subbing is the fact i have spent so much time and effort building up my main character.

So if i wasnt a vet i probably would leave eve no questions.

ps : this is aimed at bitter vets and not at new players by the way..

My name is Mr Epeen and I'm a vet.

I will not leave this game any time soon because I have the imagination to make it work for me. Those that sit on their asses and wait for things to happen shouldn't have subbed in the first place.

Thank you.

Honest questions

At what point do you qualify as a Vet?

Where is the cut-off point where one stops being a "New Player"?

I think the point is, there is only so much of the same thing you can do...People have a specific interest in the game, like pvp, indy, mining etc. There is only so much of that profession you can do.. As a pvper i would never do mining or indy it just doesnt interest me. However I have done every type of pvp, piracy, low sec, 0.0, 0.0 npc, high sec wars, faction warfare. Its still pretty much the same thing..

When i quit i normally just stick a X8 V skill to run for a month and forget about the game

Then when i come back im full of joy again.

But a lot of people are more addicted to gaining SP that is for sure.

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

EVE is and will continue to be the best game I've ever played. Its wide and deep and you always find yourself trying to master it. A lot of stuff has really made me mad int he past about it, but it continues to hold me. I've been around since April of '05 and the game has only gotten better with time.

I don't see myself leaving until the servers shut down.

I asked Bhallgorn if you should click this link, this is what he said...

I can see that, thanks for not coming back with a "You haven't been around for every expansion I have so you're not a Vet" answer.

Sounds like a bonafide addiction talking.

If you get bored of EvE, you can do what I do and PLEX out, set long skill, and /ignore for a while, or you can just let your account lapse and come back when / if you get curious about a new expansion or the itch gets you.

I quite eve all the time. ...sometimes for days at a time Lol

I'm a vet and I'm somewhat bitter about some things in eve - however I always manage to find some moronic thing to do that makes me chuckle.

Also, there's no alternative to eve as I hate themepark-style-levelgrinding MMOs with sharded servers and parallel instancing. Quite honestly, my time investment into eve has nothing to do with me not quitting despite all the things I regard as opportunities that CCP keeps missing.

I just can't find any game that compares to eve.

Why do you partake in an activity that does not appear to give you pleasure? It is not a job and you are not forced to keep up with it. Have the wherewithal to step back, put the mouse down and do something else.

You can always come back at a later stage when you have recaptured the magic.

I'd qualify as a bitter vet, I spend a great deal of time in the forums and it's 60/ 40 "negative or things I'd like to see different but in it all I have never slagged EVE outside of the EVE forums. In game I keep my pissy moods to myself and on other forums I defend EVE like I would a spoiled child.

When I quit, I just do. Happens more and more now for the same reason you have. Been there, done that and nothing ever really changes. May is coming and I will leave again. If CCP actually did the 2 things I keep harping on them to do, I'd be screwed. I wouldn't have an excuse.

Don't fix Black Ops and leave the Tags in EVE crappy reproc. I want to go play Tera.

Okay. Such a lack of decision making ability and such a level of need/dependency for something that is meant to be entertainment is foreign to me. I can't offer any advice; but I do think you need some.

Well put it this way, its not so bad for non pvpers to jsut leave, but in eve being active as a pvper is pretty important. If you are a vet pvper its important to maintain that level. killboard stats and all that, anyway level of inactivity can be frowned upon and scrutinized

No - you just have to remove them from your mindset - there's nothing to maintain except your enjoyment.

Screw K/D ratios and scores on KBs - it's about as important as being molvanian pacman champion in 1982 - do what you enjoy.
