Question: hiding in deadspace

Did some missionrunning in low-sec and got jumped by pirates, all that is fine, however what I do question is.. can people hide in system without showing their nams on local channel ? and can people hide or warp direct to points inside deadspace ? without going through the gate.

It all seemd to be happening like that after I got jumped the first time... second time I got jumped by the same guys .. they where not in local chat, all the suden one popped up, and after that 3 more.

Not without violating the EULA. Unless you're mistaking the terms deadspace and wormhole.

I'm pretty sure they have to go through the gate.

If you weren't in a wormhole and they were somehow hiding from being in local then report it and see what the logs show. (Hint: the logs don't show anything).

I'm going to answer this in two parts, hiding from local, and jumping into deadspace.

1) There is no way to hide from local in any non WH space. Unless someone is using an exploit that I am unaware of (possible I guess).
However, they could have used a cyno to jump in close to you (in the room with the first gate), and anyone with the skills can light a cyno (so someone who didn't fight you could have aided them).

2) Maybe. Some missions used to let you jump to any room (with BMs) but I don't know if CCP changed that.

I can't help any more than this because you didn't provide many details.

it'd help if you went a bit deeper into detail regarding how this happened

there's a proteus on your killmail, did that get first tackle on you?

Yeah if you were in lowsec they probably just popped a cyno.

Yes there was a proteus on my killmail, not really sure he was the first one on me.

Here is the thing, I was doing a mission with 2 gates, had cleared the first room and was in second room when someone jumped my guard.
I usually leave a alt of mine as guard at the gate, well not AT the gate, but near the gate and ready to jump out once I see enemy ships getting there, then I know someone is coming and can save my main missionship (wich btw is very cheap to loose hehe).

So I jumped out with my missionship, waited out abit and checked local and saw nobody from those pirates in local, I usually mark them or corporations I know being pirates so I see that in local.
Warped together with my gateguard and left him outside the gate as usually ready to warp out, I jumped through the gate to deadspace with my cheap Raven... only had a few ships left to do on second pocket of deadspace.

In first pocket I got jumped very quickly not right away but like a few seconds to maybe up to 30 seconds I had to travel 20 km to second gate to second pocket.
And soon after he attacked me I was scrambled ofcourse and soon I had 4 pirates on me, blowing up my ship.

Now I don't mind being jumped once in a while, it is a cheap ship and I can afford to loose some so that is not the problem, I just found it curious that they jumped in on me the second time so quickly... I honestly did not see them with my gateguard the second time there... I might have missed it and they left it alone not to alert me but I don't think so.

Sounds like a classic logoffski, with a slight twist.

Occasionally when I lose connection in the middle of a mission, I don't get returned to the first gate the way one would expect with a gated deadspace area, but rather appear right back where I started (often just in time to see the last of my drones get popped). I have no idea what triggers this particular behaviour over the expected one, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to guess that these pirates have figured it out and are using it to hit you from within the mission area.

Every time I have run into connection issues and had to log back in it would do the same to me. I get bounced to a random point but will always end up back in the room I was in, not at the beginning like a normal warp out.

I don't always use hax. But when I do, it's because I'm an NPC.. http://i.imgur.com/PUZou.jpg

some mission pockets are technically no dead space but normal space. Than you likely missed either a cyno or a cloaked ship sitting on top of you. Logoffski sounds unreasonable for me (would be good in a plex, but they have no chance to upfront jump into a mission zone

sounds like they logged off in your mission pocket the first time they jumped you.

Where there any other people in local beside the people that attacked you? chances are they had a cloaky sit in the first room and see when you got back and logged on and land in your mission
