HELP HELP! I'm getting bored!

I've been playing EvE since late 2009. I've done hisec, the wardec, "piracy", and nullsec.

Most of this has been as some nobody but a friend and I started our own corp when we first joined. He's gone though.

PvP is kinda fun, but everyone wants to turn it into a job and/or just end up sitting around waiting for some opportunity to gank...which may or may not ever happen. Roams turn into hour long flips through gates waiting for some poor sucker to be by themselves and then BAM!!!! We all try to get on the KM before they pop. If that's not the odds...nobody wants to be involved.

Can't say I blame them either. Not just the price of ships, but simply getting refitted is a job of its own, especially in 0.0. Unless you're in a corp with a 7bil isk jump freighter it's almost pointless being out there...and unfortunately it's the only fun place to be-- all the hi/lowsec rules make the game dull as hell and even more expensive because you've GOT to fight in the big ships so you can tank the gates.

Last time I got popped, I would have paid many millions to get into a rifter but simply could not. The modules were not available anywhere nearby.

OK, QQ...I should get my logistics in order. This is true, but if you suck at PvP then it's the only thing you can do.

Sov. has turned into a blue fest. Great if you want to sit around and rat all day, and I might actually do that for a while and have fun except that everyone out there expects you to be roaming all the ******* time or they pitch a fit....and roams suck ass out there. 30+ jumps to gank a miner??

Recently I worked with some buddies I'd been playing with a long time to start a corp. Holy crap if that's not almost impossible! Hiring pubbies is a total waste of time 99% of the time. Nobody wants you in your alliance without "numbers" so you end up having to inflate your corp with wastes of pixels who may as well not even be there. Then they ***** about everyone hanging out in hisec and not participating...of course, I'm getting ******* bored and have been trying to so...

So I decided maybe to go for industry or something but the entry into that is pretty damn high too. Been grinding standing for weeks now. Why? I don't know. All the research and copy queues are full for months...

I've got three accounts and all they do is train. For what? Even when I log in I end up staring at the station going, OK...now what?

Part of it is that I'm not some teenager without a job staying up all the ******* time playing. In fact I want to play less, but get more out of it. Right now I'm spending most of my evenings on EvE trying to get **** going and just sliding back into boredom every time. How's someone with a life supposed to play this game and actually get something out of it? How can I do something interesting? I've been training all these characters with the hope that someday they'd have enough SP to be able to DO something but so far that's not happened.

Everything is so dependent upon others but everyone's a flake. Not that I blame them...it's a ******* game! But it would be nice to be able to DO SOMETHING!! Something interesting! The big problem is that everything remotely interesting is available only to a select few who can devote 24/7 to a stupid game AND get lucky enough to be the 1%. It's just too much like real life in this respect.

QQ - but what can I do? For some reason I tend to like this game, and certainly more than any other MMO....but holy crap am I bored!

Wow you've put into words how ive felt for the last year orso.

Keeping the skills going cause stopping at this stage seems a waste, all my mates quit for different games.

So my story on how to stay mildly entertained.
I got into roleplaying, and no im not talking LARPing about in silly costumes. But the projects started by the CCP content team.

The Nation live events, the Arek'Jaalan project. The backstory of EVE progressing through events hosted by CCP
Join the OOC channel ingame, its the first step. After that you can branch out into multiple roleplaying corporations or ventures.

Personally Arek'Jaalan has a great deal of promise. Its the devs project to get the playerbase to write and develop the EVE knowledge wiki, explore wormholes and seek out the tiny details of the backstory of EVE. Sleepers, ancient races, the Jove. you name it.

So a recap of what your gonna do!

Join these channels:
Arek'Jaalan
OOC
The Summit

Drop me a line ingame we should talk, im in the same pit as you are and ive concidered quiting on several occasions.
Maybe together we can find some better alternatives then hours of stationwaiting to kill time with.

Get in an interceptor and bump people outside Jita. At full speed with the micro on you can even bump freighter a little if you hit them right in the center axis.

I don't always use hax. But when I do, it's because I'm an NPC.. http://i.imgur.com/PUZou.jpg

Not everyone is as easily amused as you.

Although given that station spinning is a thing...

I discovered a brand new sport today.

Fit yourself a daredevil with a local tank, plug in a billion of implants and go lowsec ratting in hostile space.

The risk factor is amazingly high, giving you the danger thrill. The fights are brilliant - it's like a boss fight when you meet a battleship rat with two ECM jammer frigs. Srsly though, it's fun.

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

A favorite saying: "If you're bored, you must be boring." To become bored in EVE
sit around and wait for someone else to entertain you.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

You can't blame new people for not wanting to be in small corps, they might be new to EVE but most won't be new to MMOs.

So they will already know what small corps (or guilds in other MMOs) are usually like. Even if they didn't know they would soon find out and most would leave the corp or game shortly after.

Exactly this.

In my time in eve, i've seen alliances jack up corp tax to 100% and threaten to ban anyone who's logged in and not participating in a CTA (What if i log in before work and do my own thing for 30 minutes? **** off.)

I've been yelled at for posting 'sensitive information' such as a kilmail with a supercarrier on it. Yeah, as if thats a secret.

I've been booted from an alliance because i sold an anathema for 15mil and apparently thats "ripping off the alliance".

I've been booted from another alliance because i used to be in a corp with a guy who's now in PL

DONT TALK IN LOCAL DONT EVEN SAY "GF" IT MAKES US LOOK LIKE IDIOTS (Sir, you ARE an idiot!)

Theres just soooo much endless ******** horseshit.

THIS IS A VIDEOGAME. I WILL HAVE FUN. If you want to require me to show up for a CTA, or dictate how i play this game, pay me IRL money. Otherwise this is still just a videogame and i will play it to enjoy it. Not for YOUR enjoyment.

About 30 seconds ago i had the entire fleet yelling at me to eject a "Stolen Passkey" that i looted from a lowsec complex runner we killed. "We are pirates, not assholes"

Yesterday someone sent our Hurricane victem 100mil out of pitty.

What the **** is this game turning into

<< Started in 09, i think...

My goal from day 1 was to be isk sufficient. I remember starting a character back then and making like 5Mill an hour hauling ore, or something like that.

Now, i have 2 isk making characters who work together to pull in a blll a week and a pvp character that flies all races everything cept titans. I also hate having to live off the market in regards to fitting out a pvp ship, so my pvp character lives out of a carrier which is cyno'd wherever the fights are and the carrier is filled with prefit combat ships so I don't have to depend on the market.

So my challenge in this game was to be able to generate enough isk to pay for the game in isk and also afford pvp.

I haven't yet achieved this but I'm getting closer.

The game itself in my opinion is terrible. I have (previously) joined terribad corps (not on this character) instead of the elite corps in eve cause they have personality and provide amusing entertainment on voice coms.

Its been years now and I've not yet found a form of pvp in eve that I enjoy.

Getting eve online to be enjoyable is kinda like a rubics cube. I'm getting closer, but not there yet.
The fact that my initial goal was to be able to pay for the game with isk made in game has made this game easier to digest.

I took a year off, but kept my accounts active and training, living off my isk reserve. I now no longer train the characters I use in eve, I now train up characters to sale on the character bizzare cause my main characters are maxed out at what they do. I literally can't find anything worth training on them.

Yeah, see I apparently suck because I am nowhere near that. I think I've had to buy ISK (the legal way) like 3 times and have been considering doing it again.
