Who are these 948 people that like your comments?

Have they read any of them?

Said it before,

Former Grief corps turning Merc aint Mercs. The may use the term merc since they get paid to go after people.

I feel caged in corps that want to go all fluffy and Merc, you know.. by proper and shyte. Like I said in another thread. Be true to yourself, don't pretend to be something your not. You can still make money deccing people as "merc" and keep your asshat status. So I will keep bugging the shyte out of people since I am good at that. I'm not a Pirate, I'm a Terrorist.

I make more isk that way anyway.

I don't think there is one end all commanding Merc corp. Every corp seem to have their little niche so I would recommend guys like Stay Calm don't Panic, Mining for Profit and Kromius boys for High sec. Noir and their goody two shoes for 0.0/low, Quacks for WH... God Squad for LOLS....

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

I support this message. Here is living proof that you can keep that status simply by forum posting. You don't need to war dec, or even log in!

No there are plenty of idiots in highsec pretending to be Mercs. Dec'ing a bunch of people or doing the 0rphanage style 'large alliances' isn't merc work, its griefing. You have no interest in fights, ~gudfites~, or anything even remotely resembling a fight; you're interested cheap ganks to keep your minions busy while you actually ignore a 'contract' you currently have (because hunting down 14 man corps are fun and all).
Posting in this terrible thread just to point that 1) I need attention 2) I'm an idiot 3) I'm a merc 4) I like to hunt down 14 man corps.

If a highsec wardec corp is paying for their own war decs then they are high sec war deccers, not mercs.

I see mercs as having an enemy or objective defined by a 3rd party.

As it is high sec war deccers are an amazing ISK sink for EVE.

That's a good point which I think a lot of people tend to gloss over, as simple as it is.

But to be fair, unless you as a RL person have the time to invest in EVE to drum a constant stream of manageable business (and hence, targets) going, you're typically going to be wearing both sets of boots, especially if you have corpmates to keep happy. That said, being a merc and being a highsec wardec'er aren't mutually exclusive activities.

I have to second this remark. Back when I was part of Infinite Entropy, we usually went out of our way to find corporations that would fight back. It wasn't merc work, though we occasionally got mercenary corporations, or worked alongside Nova Ardour when they weren't complete ****. It was many a time when we'd find ourselves being contacted by "mercs" demanding we pay them some type of fee or get decced by them.

I remember one time we decced Adeptus Arbites alliance. They talked a big game and then came to Dodixie to kill us. They brought a 10-man shield gang, complete with an Oneiros for repping. We took a five-man gang out against them and broke them. Even caught their FC's Tengu as he tried to jump from Dodixie into Botane. They eventually had several corporations break off from them because they wouldn't fight and then dec them in turn. At the end of it, Adeptus and that alliance became friends, and the "mercenary alliance" decced us in turn. After much talk from that alliance, we popped their Vindicator, as well as a Hurricane, Typhoon, two Scorpions, and a Megathron (I believe there was a Megathron).

Point is, there's plenty of failtards playing "mercenary". It's gotten to the point that if you want a real mercenary, you can't even go into the Merc Contracts channel. Nova Ardour, for example, used to be a great corporation to ask for help from. They'd dec your target, you'd pay them. Now, they've fallen back on griefing missioners and Dec Shielding out of war decs, all the while hyping about how incredible they are at PvP. LordInvisible would cry if he saw what his corp had become....
