So does this mean your average Eve player is mentally damaged?

how are animals "nice?" or anything like that.
there is a fly that inects its larva into Bees, which then basically turns it into a zombie bee. the larva eventually chews through the bee making its head fall off.

there is a type of wasp that stings and paralyzes tarantulas to lay its eggs in or near it, when they hatch the still alive paralyzed spider is eaten.
venus fly traps drown their victims.

there are more but not sure of them.

Empathy in animal groups seems more common with mammals than say, reptiles or insects.

There is actually several insect species among insects that reproduces through parasitoid means and fungi uses this too, Cordyceps being the most known.

No, it just means you're profoundly stupid. But you are in the vast majority there. Like most people your mind has a hard time wrapping itself around issues.

Put simply, because you are an idiot, humans aren't nasty in real life situations because during evolution, even before we were speciated into 'humans' , social animals were selected for survival.

In this game, full of idiots, it is easy to not be kind because every single one of you would have trouble effecting anything, let alone someone's survival.

People are mostly 'cruel' in this game because they think it is hip and cool. Also, if they have ever felt loss before (in the game) they get a small thrill knowing someone else is experiencing it in some measure.

Personally I think said researcher is dead wrong, and is himself brain damaged.

However even if he was correct, that correlation to a internet spaceship game doesn't exist. Most people (myself included) play games like this to be someone we're not.

I play the role of a Religious extremist, that enjoys torturing and jettisoning minmitar slaves into space for my amusement in eve. Does this make me that kind of person in real life? Not even close, in real life I'm a Extreme atheist, and detest slavery. Hence I play something I'm not in-game.

Not entirely in both situations you describe an extremist who hates.

The reason EVE doesn't follow Newton's first law is because the warp reactor on board each ship has to interact with subspace, and thus creates a field around the ship that treats normal space as an atmosphere. If the warp reactor were to shut off spontaniously, it would explode due to critical existence failure.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I think you are wrong with the underlined part. In RL you are limited by law, customs etc. Therefore you can't behave according to your true nature, because you fear the punishment or other repercussions. In the game there are no such limits, you can hurt others, cause them damage and fear no reprisals. That's why your behaviour here, under free conditions, is closer to your true nature than the behaviour in the limited and extremely regulated conditions of the RL.

This can be compared to a wild animal, let's say a lion: if it's limited by the cage bars in a zoo, you won't see it's true nature as clear as when it's free and can do whatever it likes. So this game is a good mirror for you, if you want to learn more about your true nature - and for others of course, who like to study you.

Btw: there is not a big difference between a religious extremist and an extreme atheist. Both have an extreme opinion about something that they can not know or prove (pretend to "know" something that they don't).

Humans are members of the animal kingdom. And Venus Fly Traps are Carnivourus Plants, not animals.
