So...about mining alt !

Well i came back after a long long vacations. This char is a lvl 4 mission runner, and a i wanted to start my first alt.

My plan is to get him up in a Noctis till he has enough skills to do *something* effectively.

The question is....what is "That" something i want him to be, and i thought about a mining alt. Semi-afk mining high sec alt while i do mission running. Is it worth it ? Does it pay for itself if i...let's say, mine 4 hours a day in a hulk ?

So you have mission runner allready.

How about you make your alt salvager? Ore industrial skill + salvaging to lvl 4 and on noctis he/she could just cleanup that trail of wrecks you leave behind. + theres money to made on rigs sales so...

We are Minmatar, Our ship are made of scraps, but look what our scraps can do...

I planned to make him first a salvager, after that, i'm at a loss. Rig manufacturing you say ?: :)

Definitely go salvage first, and he can run rooms right behind you while you mission.

Not to sound unpopular, but have you considered a scamming alt if you're just looking for more income? It doesn't take much skill, and can actually be fairly profitable. Just a suggestion.

Otherwise, I would suggest you join an indy corp and train research/manufacture and work with others. You'll be more effective, will make friends, and perhaps those connections will help you both later.

You could do a trading alt. Either station trading, or have him fly back and forth between hubs. I make about 20 mil an hour just auto piloting around.

High sec mining can be good, more so if you're planning on just having the alt do simple things while you are using your main character.

my miner generates roughly 19m isk per hour and I still don't have a perfect miner. And once I finish up the last few big skills that will go up roughly and additional 3m (so 22m isk per hour). And if you can mine with someone / group that are using an Orca that amount will go up even more.

The mission runner + salvager alt works ok, but I think 2 mission runners clearing a room twice as fast then salvaging afterwards would be more profitable. Most of the time a salvage alt is sitting around doing nothing. Would be better to have him shooting stuff.

You can always train your alt to do logistics. Then he can fly with ur main repping u while u kill stuff and he can salvage as u go.

4 hours a day you say? 5mil per hour is easy in a hulk... so 20mil a day... 7 days thats 140mil a week... 560mil a month... thats a plex isnt it? *sarchasim* well you just paid your monthly fee while afk mining

Science (both invention, ME/PE improvement and reverse engineering)
multiboxing pve
multiboxing mining
trading
capital ships (this can be quite annoying to do on a main but also takes a lot of time on a new char)
probing
(jump) freighter
planetary interaction
There is probably a lot more but there you got some ideas =)

While he keeps training to be usefull in other area :p ! Sounds like a deal to me

I was thinking about setting 3-4 accounts for making my own little mining ops while i farm lvl 4 <3 (Mad, i know, but lineage 2 gave me godly multi-client tasking xD )
