'Have you seen this person' system for players

This will work as an alternative to player finder agents. And add a little negotiation between players to the game.

It involves a business transaction between people to receive the whereabouts of another player if they were seen by another player passively.

Should work best as a contract.

This will only use local data so no real bandwidth needed. When you are in a system it will log the player names somewhere locally. Last 1h, 3h, 1day, whatever is not too much data.

Hunter : Creates a contract with the player name they are looking for and a base price you are offering.
Public : If your local data says you have seen this player it will allow you to bid on the contract.
Hunter : Hunter is notified of the contract acceptance and also given the time last seen of the target.
Hunter : Final bid for the information.
Public : Accept, Reject or Renegotiate (where Public sets a price)
Hunter : Accept or Reject
Hunter : Receive whereabouts of target

Great for bounty hunting if we get a better system.

OPTIONAL : These contract should be able to have a very short duration 1h or so.

OPTIONAL : Can use corporation name as well so any member of that corporation would spark the system.

OPTIONAL : New Skills for both giving information and receiving it

o.O Where do you even come up with this crap?

First off, Local doesn't store a history of who has been in it, either the player's in the system or they're not. Second, no one would ever use this, they'll just use locator agents anyways because it's actually reliable.

Heh, he actually made a decent thread yesterday, I guess it just goes to show if you make enough threads at least one of them will eventually be a good idea.

I'm guessing he means the local data is stored locally, with a list of names and times. Buyer pays for access and if the target was randomly in any of the systems the person was in you get a system name, and the time he was there? Still a pretty bad idea though, it's less reliable than locators and would only work if Eve was much, much smaller.

Anyway I'm guessing he wants this because he's tired of using the locators channel to try and find us, not that he's actually done anything. The other day I saw him on intel so I went and sat off gate in the system he was in (hed-gp), he wouldn't even decloak. Just hung around and left after a little bit.

Christ knows why he needs to war dec to come and try and fight us in a null sec system anyway.

I don't think he actually wants to fight, I'm pretty sure he just wants to look tough, lol.

And that's the thing, I'm pretty sure local data isn't stored at all, it makes no sense that it would be from a code design standpoint. So his proposal would require creating a whole new set of stored data just for a feature that people wouldn't actually use.

Aye, plus given the number of systems some people go through in a day it'd probably amount to a reasonably large amount of data. I mean jita is over 1k people at a time, I'm not sure what the max string length is on names in Eve but that, alongside a timestamp for every single person you see in every single system is... going to be a lot Lol

Yeah, still, you'd have thought he'd at least try and make a bombing run at me since he went to the trouble of getting there. Maybe that's what his bomb proposal was about, he couldn't get the angle right or something.
