Any reason not to link AUR to the EVE store?

Is there any reason why AUR can't be linked in the EVE store? I'd think CCP could make some profit from that and maybe even replace MT (micro-transaction).

I am not a lawyer so I don't know if there are any legal issues but this seems like a nice idea.

Advantages:
CCP could gain profit for very little extra work.
The EVE store would get more visitors.
People who wouldn't normal afford such things now can.
Could replace the current MT system, make WiS items craftable and thus make everyone happy while still generating money for CCP.
Little to no code would be wasted.
Products could be sold overpriced.

Disadvantages/Problems:
Legal issues?
Shipping?

And before someone ask: NO, CCP would not give stuff away for free; PLEX/AUR would act as a giftcard.

A lot of people who are rich ingame are poor IRL, so they would buy everything they can with their ISK

If I understood well

I don't use plex so I honeslty don't care.
I would like this to replace the current MT though.

Well one good reason would be that AUR was a terrible idea and should be done away with and never spoken of again.

I don't always use hax. But when I do, it's because I'm an NPC.. http://i.imgur.com/PUZou.jpg

Agree. Sadly doubt that will happend so I though this could be a way to use AUR for good causes.

some people in EVE are fanatics(fans) "we say EVE is only FiS, even if it's produced by CCP they have to listen... " and other similar stuff

it's a giant can of worms that CCP won't touch with a ten foot pole, with good reason

There are real reasons for CCP not to do such a thing.

Firstly, it creates a measurable exchange rate for in game isk and rl currency.

Secondly, with such an exchange rate the tax man will want his fair share.

Thirdly, regulations drown companies like CCP to protect against money laundering.

While there currently are no such regulations and newer games are actually breaching the exchange divide it is only a matter of time before government gets involved in your game. As an alliance head, how would you like to be responsible for filing quarterly income reports and having to pay taxes on it? How would you like to account for where your isk is coming from and going?

Yeah, it's far fetched but, not really.

In reference to your second point. YES, the IRS only has a short mention of virtual currencies on its website. However, tax implications on virtual currencies are in its infancy. With that said, state and local governments may try to develop an entirely new kind of tax around virtual currencies because they're so desperate for cash and they could do this before the IRS really wraps its head around the issue.

I'm a tax professional in real life and I'm keeping an eye on this issue because big accounting firms are also taking notice.
