The ship-type should be in the title of the window, in parentheses after the player assigned name maybe. People still fall for it because it's bad design.

I was guessing OP meant "repackaged" instead of "unpackaged". Because if ship was packaged he would not need to do anything after trade to see that it is wrong ship.

Or we can guess that he meant 'unpackaged', and that he meant that when he double clicked on it he really did get the hulk description.

Keep digging your hole ever deeper, this was a clear case of swapping the item in such a way that the other player doesn't see it.
