I love EvE and as an MMO there is truly nothing like it. It's far from PERFECT but it's always going to be a challenge to make an utterly hewn from stone online game experience on such a grand scale.

Rather than say it's the greatest game ever, I'd say its the messiest and 'funnest' sandbox ever.

Best game ever? Life. More people should try it!

Seriously though. Sports like baseball soccer etc. are way ahead of anything else since what these guys do on the field can define their career and a generation. These sports are actually part of the fabric and traditions of many countries.

The best game in the world to play with friends is twisted metal black.

or beer pong.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

And how do you think technlogies such as kinect will effect this balance.

If EVE lasts 10 years , are our kids going to be running on the spot in there bedrooms, aiming toy guns , and boarding your beatiful titan as a marine assault leader.

Being the only game in its genre doesn't make it the best of anything.

It won't. The real world is and always will be much more compelling and interesting than the virtual world, because it's real. EVE isn't real, there are no real consequences to popping someone in a Hulk or merlin despite what the hype machine tells you. Worse that will happen is you lose a ship or two and a bit of standings.

This kind of post draw out the self-loathing bittervets like no other, but i'll chime in anyway cause it's fun to bump and watch them moan.

EVE is, imo, the best mmo to date. I have no idea what that says about mmo's or gaming that EVE is better, despite all the flaws and the last few years being a roller-coaster of unfulfilled promises blooming into somewhat fulfilled promises and still more promises yet to be kept, but ultimately there's nothing better out there.

Nothing with as much depth. Nothing that keeps you coming back because you just cannot possibly do it all (without a hoard of alts and a RL schedule that would make the laziest beach bum jealous) and because what "it all," is frankly, changes with how the players interact. There's a market to play, rats to shoot, players to shoot, scams to run, corporations to run, alliances to politic, thousands of places to explore, and a host of other niches that I probably don't even think of on a regular basis, but someone is occupying and/or exploiting right now.

Yes it's riddled with botters. Yes the economy is choking under rampant inflation caused by the poorly balanced isk payouts from incursions. Yes the sov system is probably the second most horrific thing to hit this game since the last sov system (PI is really close though). Yes a lot of ships are woefully underpowered and a few are absolutely insane. But overall the game still provides a sandbox where none of that matters as much as it should. We keep paying our sub or paying someone isk to pay our sub because we can get over all that, despite pleading on the forums daily for some, if not all, of those things to be fixed because EVE is not the "terrible game," we all like to call it.

And before (perhaps after) anyone goes off on the philosophical rant that RL is so much more meaningful and anyone who invests time into the "virtual," is sad and pathetic, remember that like your assets in-game, none of the **** you make, do, or say in RL will mean anything when your life is over. Treat EVE like any other hobbie, obviously too much of anything is harmful, but pretending all the worthwhile things in life are "productive," real-life accomplishments is laughable. Your accomplishments mean nothing if you don't enjoy them. Productivity is the measure of your contribution to society at large, not your contribution to your own well-being.

No one has the balls CCP does to try new things. This make it a hell of a lot better than many mmos out. The best game how ever, no.

I have more space likes than you.
